Buckley giving the PM some advice on Twitter
“Leadership is hard. Put your hand up and accept what could have been done better, by you and by others,” Buckley tweeted.
“Then accept the vitriol, the hurt and the pain. Listen, understand and empathise. Then take action. Firstly for today and then for tomorrow.”
The problem with this of course is that we don't have a nationwide fire policy.
The state Govt. owns that, including the lack of fuel reduction which was a key recommendation in the reports following 2009, along with expanding the DFA by at least 40%, but instead we gutted it.
I'm not sure how Scott Morrison ended up in the firing line aside from not predicting the fires a few months in advance.
It seems to have started with Australia's efforts regarding Climate Change but that's the biggest herring being pushed by the left.
The Paris Agreement puts not constraints on China and India. They come under the agreement in 2030, but have a catch all excuse even then which is that if they believe taking action will cause poverty, then they don't have to.
So in effect, as the west starts relying on the more expensive renewable power sources, business if forced to do more manufacturing from China and India and a few other countries where coal fired electricity is in greater use. We lose jobs, they gain them. We are cleaner, but considering these other countries have no environmental policy to speak of, the net result is more pollution than before we started. It's like the UN with their IPCC think the west lives in a self contained bubble.
In reality, we are making ourselves poorer, making the Chinese richer then watching them come out here and drive our house prices through the roof, forcing many Australians out of the market.
It's probably summed up best by Dr Ottmar Endenhofer (IPCC Co-Chair of working group 3 ) in an interview on Nov 13 , 2010 when he said the following:-
We (UN-IPCC) redistribute de facto the world's wealth by climate policy. One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. Thie has nothing to do with the environmental policy anymore"!
