The I ❤️ Collingwood thread.

- Clarkson : old has been - yabby jeans
- Leppa : failed senior coach
- Voss: failed senior coach
- B Scott: failed senior coach
- Roos: old has been
- Worsfold; old has been

I hope that's their short list BT

10 years in the making.
This bullshiit succession plan was always going to be a disaster.
Apparently in 2010 Malthouse had coached the youngest premiership team ever. 4 years later under Buckley that team was out of the finals. Then having quality footballers asking to leave
Thomas, Beams, Wellingham, Dawes etc.
This is no different to what Graeme Richmond did in 1981,
Got rid of a premiership coach to replace him with a club legend.
With players like Cloke Raines Wood all departing a year later.
These decisions haunt football clubs for years.
It took us 37 of the shittest years to finally recover.
How close is Collingwood to winning a flag?

Whilst I do wish Bucks all the best for the future. .... it's a tad over the top that he's somehow become a coaching icon since effectively being sacked.
Surprised to see the Herald Sun only devote 18 pages to yesterday's events.

Expecting them to really get to work before the weekend to produce a nice full colour, 60 page, exclusive souvenir magazine . .... (Yours for only $4.95 with token)
Its unbelievable.
450+ games No flags as a player and none as a coach.
Not sure they are giving him a state reception farewell.

If Collingwood get Clarkson.
It will match our efforts with Jeans in 1992.
No impact.
There best bet would be a Lyon (but still too defensive, just ask a Stkilda supporter)
I would rather chase Carcella or Yze,

Come on. Let’s be fair here. Buck’s deserves it. After all he did find a cure for cancer didn’t he? No?
Then he must have brought about world peace? No?
I know. He won a flag didn’t he................

One thing I do find amusing and ironic is that their 2 greatest players, according to McGuire and a lot of other were Bob Rose and Figgy. For a club that claims to be so successful and to have won so many flags, those 2 with their playing and coaching records at the club have won exactly 0 premierships

It’s a fine line between pleasure and pain. It really is a brutal industry with 17 losers each year and 1 winner. Imagine being a failure if you weren’t the best performer where you worked.

empathy over.

Suck a lemon pies.

Only two flags in his lifetime, that might have something to do with this call. Not only did he never speak to Jock McHale, he never saw the Pannams, the Coventrys and the Richards's play.

To put Collingwood's last 60 years in context, they have won ONE Premiership more than St Kilda during that period. No wonder Buckley is their hero.

That’s got me thinking about a trivia question I don’t know the answer to. Has any other clubs 2 best players, that also coached the club, had so little success combined in regards to premierships. Leave out the suns and giants and probably freo as no favourite son has come back to coach them. The saints have baldock, dogs have whitten who were involved in at least one flag. Can name any other player/coach and they will still have 1 more flag than rose/ buckley

Any chance the media might cover this a little more?
I love reading the same *smile* with a different headline.

Oh boy!! Got the HS today and what do you know?
Magpies on front page, back page, 4 inside pages and not to be seen to be biased, but another 3 or 4 pages inside back pages.
There has not been so much hype about an event since world war 2.

It would be amusing to compare how many pages Jim Stynes got in the HS when he died.
