The fixture.

Does that take into account current ladder position, because it sure looks like North get a tough draw for the whole year. Given how bad they are it seems a bit extreme.

*smile* me, how did they score that after making a GF last year?

Steven Hocking (born 18 January 1965) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong in the VFL/AFL. He is the elder brother of former Geelong captain Garry.

A back pocket specialist,
Hocking played with the Cats for over a decade and fell one game short of reaching 200 games when he retired after ending up on the losing 1994 AFL Grand Final team. He was named as the club's 'Most Determined Player' award four times including three consecutive seasons from 1988 to 1990.

In August 2017, Hocking was appointed AFL General Manager of Football Operations.[1] He had served as Geelong's head of football.[2]

We have the easiest remaining draw? Cornes will be all over this.

Whilst I seriously doubt the integrity of that data and the table for a host of reasons, even if it was a good assessment, then Cornes would be better off asking how a club that played in last year's GF has had a 13th and 11th hardest draw over the first 7 and remaining rounds respectively. At least we've gone 3 and 18 not ***** 13th and 11th.

Maybe he could ask ex Geewhinge player and resident AFL cheat and ahole, S. Hocking the question.

We may very well have the easiest draw overall for the rest of the season, but our next three are all pretty tough (GWS 11th, 3-4, but hitting some form).
We could very easily be 4-6, and from that point on we couldn't afford too many more Sydney-like performances.
You can bang on all you like about premierships being won in September but you've got to win enough games to get there.

Rd 14 away at eagles thursday night
Rd 15 home v saints friday night

I saw a graphic pop up during the Melbourne/ Carlton game and thought, this can’t be right so I checked it out. Can anyone explain this to me.
As an MCG tenant club, the AFL fixtured a home game for us at the dump. As a dump tenant club, Carlton have a home game coming up at the MCG against hawthorn, an MCG tenant club. As well as that, they are also playing a home game against the eagles at the MCG.
How are the AFL justifying that? ( Rhetorical question as I know the afl never justify what they do)
Just wondering if anyone knows why

They’ll never be able to justify it. They’ve never explained how years ago they fixtured us to play Melbourne on a Friday night at Marvel.

I think its something to do with the AFL being *smile* s?

Anyone know when the next block of games fixture will be confirmed ?

Rd 16 onwards

I'd imagine they are holding off until they know more about the COVID situation in Melbourne.

But if they intend on keeping this rolling fixture next year, they need to give the fans more notice. I thought 6 weeks would be enough, but I reckon we need 2 months’ notice.

You can even argue they could lock in the rest of the season from here, as history shows the top 8 rarely changes and we know what the big games are.

I was originally going to that. But now i'm holding off for GWS away. I'm hoping it might be a saturday afternoon or twilight game so i can FIFO on the day.

I’m confused by something. It might be a simple answer, then again it’s the AFL so probably not. But….After the events of last season, why did the AFL schedule for some teams to play each twice before playing other teams once, for example, we’ve played the saints twice before playing the suns, pies, Roos once. Last year was probably the fairest draw in years in that everyone played each other once. There is a very slight chance that the fixture may be shortened. I would have thought that the AFL would have scheduled everyone to play each once before a return match against some teams, just in the off chance that rounds may be cancelled due to lockdowns. Already this season one or two games have been swapped around, as well as transferred interstate.
Does anyone know why? ( apart from it’s the AFL, what do you expect)

It's the AFL....what else can you say.

As OTC were talking about GWS, I was just checking the fixture and wondered if they had already played against old mate Cameron at the Pussies, and they won't until R21.

its an absolute farce that we don’t know the match times for R17 by now. In fact, they should have released the match times for the remainder of the season by now.

The AFL have made it clear that they won’t change scheduled match times, even if stadiums are unavailable due to COVID outbreaks… so there is no excuse not to release the match times much earlier.

BTW, Ch 7 are claiming Richmond v Collingwood will be on Sunday. I am assuming it will be at 3:20 (but I am only assuming as much)
