The Dusty 300th celebration thread

How good was it to get 92 k along to honour the great man. We are second last with two wins and the fans came on mass. We have been very lucky to witness one of the all time greats play for three hundred games. The Tiger King.

Living far away from the G myself, I totally get leaving early sometimes to beat the rush, but for the life of me I cannot understand why any Richmond supporter would get up and leave before clapping this man off the ground, he gave us 3 flags, without Dusty, those 3 flags would not exist.
Many stayed, but many also left.
I only just got home, it was worth it to see him even though the game wasn't a great one.

Correct. 2nd highest H&A crowd for both clubs.
Highest ever H&A crowd not involving Collingwood.
Our H&A highest for 47 years.
Hawks highest since the bizarre Queens Birthday Monday in 1981 at Waverley
Hawks highest at MCG by 6,000
Highest ever Saturday H&A crowd

Highest ever 12 v 17 crowd (made that up …)

All due to one man.

Just a random thought that popped into my mind, but one I think of whenever the Blues play Richmond.

That Carlton banner a few years back bagging Dusty and his haircut, while likening his barber 'vision impaired' to Richmond's five-year plan.

It was cringeworthy at the time, but probably more so now than it ever was, given his standing and legacy in the game. The cheersquad should be embarrassed. It wasn't clever, nor funny. Just a desperate attempt at whatever it was they were trying to achieve by bagging out an opposition player in public.

Anyhow, that was Round 1, 2017. The Tigers won the game comfortably, won the flag later that year with Martin winning the Norm Smith, and since two more in a couple more flags.

He wouldn't have lost a wink of sleep over it, but it endures as an embarrassing look for those involved.

I've always found banners that are about the opposition more than the team they're supposed to be motivating a little odd. We've been guilty of it as well but some club's cheer squads are more focused their opposition that their own players

And I just heard another on the radio. A record crowd for 2 non- foundation clubs :)

Geez, them gratifiers just love inventing a reason out of nothing for chubbing up. Maybe they should contact the Guinness book of *smile* wits to add some more records of irrelevant *smile* to bone over.

Disagree on that. It's all part of the banter.
I remember a Collingwood banner around 1983.
Something to the effect of

Poor old Richmond
Caught without a Cloke and it Raines.

We all get and love that he is a man of few words and that those words are always spoken with honesty.

From yesterday with Jack, in the event that he does decide to play on next year, it will be with us.

I rarely disagree with your takes BB, but I was at that game and found it pretty funny. And to be fair up to that point they weren't wrong about the five year plan. We all know what happened in 2017 of course...

Good bantz from my perspective

There was a game against Carlton where we had Bart Simpson writing we must end their season today on the board. If we beat them they missed finals. From memory we came back from a big early deficit and won it!
