The call we have to make

The call we need to make is that we need to play the kids now regardless. The senior boys are clearly lazy from success. LAZY FROM SUCCESS!!! LET'S NOT PRETEND THEY ARE NOT LAZY FROM SUCCESS BECAUSE THEY ARE CLEARLY LAZY FROM SUCCESS AND DIMMA KNOWS THIS... ROCKSTARS

What are you trying to say? Are you suggesting the senior players are lazy or something along those lines?

We're possibly only a Dusty/Dylan combination away from being 4-2 instead of 2-4.
yep. all this talk about throwing the season away at this point is crazy.
and the talk that some of our vets are only getting games because of who they are is also crazy.
Lynch and Jack will continue to get picked because they give us the best chance of winning games. Lynch has kicked 7 goals in our 2 wins. Not sure who is going to come in and replace that. Riewoldt is 4th on score involvements- he isnt doing lot, but he is still a skilled/smart footballer. Neither is in great form, but both are still better now than their possible replacements, and both have the potential to improve- especially if the mids can improve.
I would be in favour of ShEdwards getting dropped/rested/managed. but he probably wont be, and that is not cos he is Hardwicks mate, it is cos we will be a lot better team with an in form Edwards. i reckon a rest, or a week or 2 as sub might freshen him up, but the MC probably disagree.

and the call to throw the kids in is not always the right call. I would love to see Stack play this weekend, but if they reckon his development is best busting his gut in the twos then he should stay there. everyone is excited by Sonsie, but again if they think his development is best suited getting 30 touches in the VFL rather than beat up in the AFL he should stay there. for the moment. same with Clarke, Rioli and any other kids.
the like of Parker and Aarts should not be keeping talented kids out, but they should play if the MC does not think those individual kids are best suited in the AFL right now.

Yes CT. Elder statesman in the team are no longer displaying the hunger for success.

Key reason why non performing champs must be replaced by quality youth. Youth brings enthusiasm, desire and desperation.

Delicate balance. Dimma's greatest challenge atm.

You do realise that giving a Brown a few games alongside the likes of Vlastuin, Sonsie a handful alongside Prestia and Clarke a half dozen alongside Bolton is worth its weight in gold, right?

Playing kids alongside premiership players like Short, Broad, etc is not throwing them to the wolves.

Time is if the essence. You don’t play cooked senior players when they’re offering only slightly more than the kids and finals are a distant dream.

Edwards and Riewoldt are rightly being questioned. Lynch, Cotchin, Castagna, KMac, Nankervis and others are a watch.

A few more losses and it’ll be time to blood more kids.

A few wins and naturally we hold course.

Mate and Ryan will absolutely be in the frame later in the season.

Haven’t we experimented with youngsters and premiership players before Martyn and Ryan spring to mind? Thought that set them back a bit.

A couple more losses in the next few weeks and I’ll join in the call for youngsters but until then the seniors offer more for mine.

some kids will benefit, some wont. the MC needs to try to decide which ones will benefit and give them game time, regardless of whether we win or lose games, and not just chuck kids into to a team that is struggling because they are kids.

I would be absolutely staggered if Colina- the kid who has hardly played any football for years and is currently still in Hawaii is anywhere near senior selection this year, and probably in 2023.

Yep, zero chance Colina plays a senior game this season.

Tarrant hasn't worked out.

Balta back. I would much rather invest in Balta and Gibcus, surrounded by Grimes, Broad, etc

Will take five years to rebuild the forward line. Maybe longer.
We don't have 5 years Tiffy.
Shai, Balta, Gibbo, Snakes, Rioli
I ll give you 3 years when those 5 are at the top of their game

You started your thread talking about 'integrity' and 'culture'.

Now you've devolved into strip away anyone over 30 and play for draft picks. As in, the opposite of those things.

In round 7?

Finals are a 'distant possibility'? We're one game out of the 8! With a good draw, and playing okay.

This is the random scattershot of a frustrated supporter, whose not used to losing a couple.

Then again, you also had us completely restructuring as 'Collingwood had gone past us' after 2018's prelim.

WTF?

we are 2-4 and playing a horrible, stilted brand of football. hardwick mitigated the damage against melbourne - not since 2016 has there been such a feeling of inevitability within a game.

it's been a long time since we focused so much on opposition.

we beat the bulldogs who are in freefall. we beat the giants who are as soft as they come, particularly at the MCG and without Greene.

you have oscillated between being down on the list to rainbows and fairies all of a sudden.

why don't you just watch the game?

i'm fine with a dip if it gives us a look at some kids and we net a high draft pick. a quick bounce for 2024.

in your world it would be great scraping into 8th and getting blasted off the park by a Jeremy Cameron. you welcome mediocrity, dude. but that's ok. it takes all types to make a forum.

rubbish. you are showing your usual lack of imagination and insight, lol.

IF finals are out of the question - if - there are always outliers that bob up for game in the back half of the season. veterans put on ice so we get a look at how the rest of the list looks on the park for a game or two.

MoJu and Ryan are recent examples.

Biggie and Mate will get a look for at least one game - perhaps more - IF we are cruising to a bottom six finish.

you DO realize Lynch's knees look shot, Nank can barely get off the ground and Jack is playing his last season?

how does the forward line look in 2023 if we don't get at least a look at our next ruck/forward combination?

why don't you know more about football Timmy?

you will be wrong on both counts, and it wouldn't be the first time.

you play kids alongside premiership stars when the time is right - Gibcus is good enough to play even when the season is live and we're looking at best 22 - as senior games learning in the fierce heat of AFL in the best of learning frameworks is gold.

if we are 3-7 and finals are unlikely, at best a 7-8 finish, I would rather get games into kids rather than nurse players to 300 games at a dribble of possessions every week. mate will get a look if we are not making finals. not only that, we will get a look at how he operates in tandem with Ryan.

at this point Lynch may be on ice and Jack playing his last handful of games. a lot can change in the space of a season - a world of development for our list.

again - maybe just watch some football brodders instead of trotting out beige club fandom?

Oh Carts, I could only wish to be so knowledgeable on football as you sir, we are so blessed to have you in this forum. And to think, we get it for free, mere mortals would pay to hear such insightful wisdom from one so imaginative, wise and intelligent…..

Cool, I’ll put my money where my mouth is. I’ll donate $100 to the charity of your choosing if Colina plays a senior AFL game this year. And I assume you’ll reciprocate.

I will not be entering into any financial arrangement with some feral on a footy forum, lol

If you feel so strongly about Mate, feel free to carry through with your plan.

I think he should get a quick look if finals are out of play, feel free to bookmark that or do whatever it is you do to keep tabs on folks.

Tip: Clive Palmer is not a charity.

I think he's jumped the shark. Agree on Colina, he's a long shot to be a good VFL player at this stage.

And Ryan is miles in front of Colina I don't see how Colina gets a game without injuries to Nank/Soldo/Ryan/Lynch/Balta.......even then he may not get a game.

Thought not. You’re all *smile* and wind son, *smile* and wind.

Ok grandpa. Life was simpler during the war, wasn’t it?

I said bookmark my comment. You do anyway, don’t you?

A whole wall in your bunker is covered in my comments.

Maybe.

Our KPF stocks are hitting a wall sooner than people think.

Gibcus, Balta, who knows how many gaps there’ll be and we don’t have any pure forwards in development.
