The Blair "Which?" Project

The Blair witch project I hope understands we need to do our time at the bottom of the ladder to get access to top picks. We also need to get games into our young players (especially RCD, Ross, Dow, Stack, Ralphsmith, Martyn) but they can't get a game ahead of our twilight stars. We have an abundance of senior experience that drives the culture and they need to pass the baton on, but its hard to do that when most of your young players that are ready to step up are stuck in the magoos. If reasonable trades can be arranged for some of our older best 22 players then I think we need to execute. I think it would close the window earlier but bring it forward quicker.

Then we are screwed
North get CJ for nothing and the compo for Chol we won't end up using.
If Cj chooses North and North force's him into the pre-season.
The Booing of Coleman Jones will surpass the booing of Goodes.
What an absolute *smile* stick

If Higgins gets a cold reaction from the Richmond players, they'll be marking this one on the calendar if he leaves for nothing.

We wanted to trade for Houli but Dudoro wouldn’t trade so he walked. CCJ is allegedly reported as saying he wants the Tiges to be fairly compensated
Im aware of the first bit.

Re the 2nd, I didnt realise CJ has requested a trade, if he hasn't then the 2nd point is moot & obviously incorrect

not many get forced into preseason draft nowadays

Stevens years ago, Jack Martin , cant think of any others

Yes but you certainly lose bargaining power and the ability to get a fair deal if a player is determined to walk, (which i am not saying CJ is).

That was pretty funny at the time. Dodoro said he wasn’t going anywhere as he was a required player. It was pointed out he had left the Club as he was out of contract and had nominated us. ‘No, he is not going anywhere, Hirdy is going to have a coffee with him and he will change his mind and stay’. He had his coffee and told Hirdy that he was coming to us. Never heard from Hird or Essendon again. We tried to offer our 3rd rounder to Essendon to offer something. Fair offer considering Bash had only played a handful of games over several years. Nope said Dodoro, “we will take Cotchin”.

Nope - not happening. ‘You do realise we have the first pick in the PSD and don’t have to offer you anything ?’

“Cotchin or nothing”. So ?….no deal…….

They didn’t even turn up for the last day of trade week. I think our pick we offered them was 51? Which we used on Brad Helbig, who they wanted!! The groan that went up from their table on draft night when we picked him was priceless. I nearly spat a mouthful of beer out in amusement at the time. Unfortunately Helbig didn’t work out. I was desperate for him to win Brownlow just to stick it up the arrogant so and so’s.

Hopefully North will be fair and give us something decent if he decides to leave but they don’t have to as they can get him for free.

Yes ,this is how the deal/non-deal went down according to Dodorro

That reasoning from Dodo makes no sense at all. He turned down a pick in the national draft so he could have the first live pick in the PSD.

The PSD comes after the national draft??? It's like turning down a third round pick so you can have pick 80.

He has rewritten history here a bit. They were offered a pick in the draft. He suggested we offered a pick they couldn’t use? I call *smile* on that. To suggest that they wouldn’t trade with us in order to improve their PSD pick is nonsensical. I do love the ‘hopefully we can sit down one day and have a chat ….blah blah….and he will remember his time fondly…blah blah… Any time in the last decade Adrian??

Utter tosser

Certainly sounds a bit of a re-write. Being as they used Pick 80 in that draft, I'm pretty sure our offer would have been better than they so they would have used our pick as a better option than Pick 80.

Dodo believing he will get his own back all these years' later with Mabior walking to Essendon?

Probably. Actually Essendon have good some kids in their list now but I think singlehandedly Dodoro kept Essendon mired in mediocrity for years. Which was great. No-one could deal with them. In their negotiations Essendon adopted a win/lose position. They win and the other Club had to lose. Even Bomber Thompson said (when he returned to Essendon), “We have to get better on that front”, when replying to a comment that Essendon were seen by other Clubs as too difficult to deal with. Good luck to Mabs if he ends up there. Hope he goes ok and he shown he has quite a skill set but….just lacked urgency in his play.

Hey Jimbob, there are a lot of would be Dodoro recruiting clones here on PRE with all proposals outrageously in our favor ;)
