melbourne are agricultural at best up forward. teams will squeeze them there. Trac can't kick all their goals either.
they won't back up.
no way.

All good posts on the subject. But no one has suggested a solution to Graystar's question which I believe was the root of our mid-field issues last year.I have read all the posts and would comment that last year at least, we lacked speed.
Ross, so far has not shown leg speed, Dusty, for all his talent, is not the fastest around and neither is Prestia or the ageing Cotchin.
So, where will our speed from stoppages come from, apart from Shai, who can't be everywhere at all times?
God I hope you’re right!melbourne are agricultural at best up forward. teams will squeeze them there. Trac can't kick all their goals either.

I always think winning and controlling the ball makes you a lot quicker OT.
The perception of Graham's speed vs his actual speed is a good example. When he has low possessions and spends a lot of time chasing he gets called slow. In the same way our midfield never looked slow when we were getting damaging ball in 2017-20.
Melbourne will be hoping that is wrong.melbourne are agricultural at best up forward. teams will squeeze them there. Trac can't kick all their goals either.

We could all see it. But Blair's and the gang thought we could go to the well again with the exact same group we have had for the last 5 years. The engine is like a 2.0 litre at the moment.
Lambertz Prestia and Graham all still recovering from injuries. We need a rebuild.
We need new blood in there to get that engine purring like in 2020 a Hemi 5.0 litre.
Well that last 5 years enabled us to win 3 out of 4 Grand Finals! We could all see it. But Blair's and the gang thought we could go to the well again with the exact same group we have had for the last 5 years.
It was never going to happen
Too much of hole to fill. Unless we find a Couglan & Maxfield in the 2's we aren't winning *smile*.Well that last 5 years enabled us to win 3 out of 4 Grand Finals!
Maybe the last throw of the dice this year for 4 out of 5 was wrong...but it's early days yet to be certain!

So easy you say!Zips list management.
Must have B-A class midfielder
Can't believe we didn't trade Cj for a midfielder.
Midfielders at other clubs don't necessarily fit into our side.
We need a Tarranto, Green type.
Castagna straight swapSo easy you say!
But that's not how it all worked out!
How would you have traded for Green?!? Bet Hartley would love to know!
Give the man a cigar!Castagna straight swap
Throw in FAartsCastagna straight swap
Parfitt would have slot nicely into our midfield at this time. Yes but oh ok!!!!
Yep, agree with all especially RCD. Keep him in for sometime. For the next few weeks:
Throw Big Shorts Baker into a proper full time role on the ball - not this part forward/part back stuff/part on-ball stuff. Give him a full run in the engine room for a couple of weeks.
Until we get Meatball (and Lambo) back, Chimp back to a heavier on-ball workload and not as much time up forward as he spent on Thursday. Ditto Dusty Dog.
Hopefully the break is good for Fridge and he is better for the run, and provides more output.
Shed looks lost at centre bounces. More time for Bolton there. Shed out of the centre.......Bolton in.
RCD on the ball and back into the side as an inclusion for Meatball. (Note: time is NOW RCD).
Ross more time on the ball if for nothing else but to get a defined assessment of his on-ball abilities.
Parfitt was taken by Geelong with the pick we gave them for JCaddy if memory serves me correctWhy bring up Parfitt? We never had a chance to draft him. He was taken at 26 in 2016, our 1st pick was 29 when we selected Shai.
