MATCH REPORT
by SkillzThatKillz
Being ever the optimist, I have been encouraged with some of our efforts against some of the better teams in the competition. We lost by 5 points to Geelong, 20 points to Freo and 11 points to Sydney. Of course there have been some bad losses to Essendon, North Melbourne and Melbourne in between which have brought Richmond back to earth.
There was a sense of optimism prior to our game against the Saints, a team we did well against last year with the Tiges having some big wins against them of late.
I have mentioned recently on the captain’s thread that Cotchin needs to start taking games by the scruff of the neck if he is well and truly going to be an elite player. The captain didn’t disappoint, kicking two early goals in the game and kicking 3 in the first qtr. He helped set up the lead that would win us the game. He dominated and was clearly BOG with his 5 goal, 31 disposal game.
Brandon Ellis and Alex Rance were IMO in the top 3 players on the ground. Rance was amazing against Nick Riewoldt and Ellis was everywhere, finishing up with 36 touches and a goal.
Maric was very good and Vlastuin solid. Another encouraging performance from Miles, who is another on our list who has elite potential – can’t believe this guy got delisted by GWS!
For the Saints, Rance kept Riewoldt’s usual influence down and kept him to 1 goal. Montagna finished with 27 touches and they would be encouraged by Darren Minchington’s performance – looks a likely type and kicked 2 good goals after coming on as the sub.
Richmond won the game by 44 points – a solid performance which has the club sitting at 13th position on the ladder.
With the game against the Lions in Round 16, I sense that Cotchin will have another big game coming up and hopefully another Richmond win!

Apologies for the late results this week and match report.
Richmond's fourth win of the season against the cellar dwellers was expected, but still satisfying. Cotchin played a remarkable game and was duly awarded with the rare feat of receiving the 3 votes on every ballot cast this week. He has reclaimed the top spot now as Dusty and the skipper battle for the award. Brandon Ellis and Alex Rance also played solid games with Ellis finding the ball at will and Rance nullifying Riewoldt the Lesser for most of the match.
Today sees us take on Brisbane in Melbourne, which presents as another opportunity to secure a victory. It will be good to see Jacko back out there and O'Hanlon play in his first match of the year!
Carn' the Tiges!
