Team v Gold Coast

Never ever thought id say this, but Id have selected Naismith over Nank against witts.

Witts 208
naynay 206
Nank 199.

I also didnt think id be calling for Cumbo, but hes the most likely to kick dustys 4 goals.

Absolutely spewing i dont get to watch dusty play. Havnt seen him for a couple years up here, and in a footy sense, hes not buying green bananas anymore
Dont worry, you'll get to see him at Cararra every 2nd weekend in 2025. :peepwall

Some good points by BinMan @Ian4

This zero round against Gold Coast might re-appear next year. A tradeoff for the reacher round. A sellout will be deemed a success.

The game is being shown on FTA live against the gate on the Gold Coast. Doesn't make sense to promote some plastic rivallry and then deny FTA access to Richmond fans in their strongest market for the first game of the season. Biggest boycott Richmond fans in Vic have available is to not watch the Collingwood game.

The AFL have got themselves into a bind over round zero

If Richmond v Carlton remains the round 1 opening game on thursday the only way one of the teams won't have a 5 day break is if Brisbane v Carlton and Gold Coast v Richmond are played this week on Thursday and Friday nights. The AFL don't want to do that because they want one of either the Thursday or the Friday game to be in Sydney

What that means is that the only choice they had was to either move Richmond v Carlton or have the Suns and the Lions play different opponents on Round zero

It is actually a monumental stuff up

Good to see us thumbing our nose at the AFL by openly admitting that we aren't playing some of our best players because of the 5 day turnaround and travel.

Yeah, they should say Lynch and Nank are fit but they're is no way they can play off 5 days, so we are giving them extra days off now, rather than missing Rd 1.

They would fine us to the shizenhausen if we put out a reserves team. And probably dock us points. And punish us further via the fixture for years to come.
So not much different to a normal year then.

The gift that keeps on giving first game interstate and then a 5 day turnaround. Clowns this organisation and don't think new Andrew Dillon is any better.
