Considering what we have seen from Mr Tambling thus far , " when " is sooooooooooooo far away they might find human life on mars before he decides to " blitz" anything .
And i will be here till that day , knife and fork in hand if need be , but highly unlikely

Re: Tambling - FIRE UP!

MY first post on the topic of Bling, and for the record, I'm not in the habit of blasting our players ...especially a youngster, but .... yesterday he was terrible and very, very lazy. If there is something wrong with him, I'll cut him some slack. He didnt just have a quiet one, he appeared to me to be half hearted and I don't care who you are, thats unforgivable. Yes he had mates, but he is a very, very gifted kid that I'm sure would be very disappointed with his effort. Especially, seeing two of his "mates" from that draft fire up the way that they did.

Having said that, I still believe that I've seen enough to say that he has the potential to be a ripper when he gets going. Anyone who advocates getting rid of a kid at 20 that was widely touted as one of the best 4 in the country at age 18 has rocks in their heads.

He still has time, but not forever.

Re: Tambling - FIRE UP!

Just out of interest, when is the cutting off point for when we stop saying "He just needs time" or "He's gonna be very good"...?

Admittedly, he's got a little bit of time left yet but we can't keep saying it forever. He's not doing enough at the moment. He's had hamstring/back problems. He needs to be producing a sustainable level of output by this time next year or he's history. He'll be nearly 22 and have 60-70 games under his belt by then.

Clock is ticking.

So lets drop him for..........?

Suspect this is a bit emotive, we all wanted him to have a blinder while Thursfield held Franklin goaless but it didn't happen. I for one wouldn't drop him for that.

He is third on our goal kicking, its only his second single digit disposal game all year, he is better this year than last, he still has obvious room for improvement and mainly in the work area. Hard work can be taught, ability comes a little harder.

I can remember Rodan at about the same stage trying to take on a backman to kick a match winning goal and getting caught by a fingernail. Fawley (you dud) dragged him despite the fact there was hardly time to get another player on the ground and we were down by less than 10 pointsl. It blew his confidence big time and his game dropped away big time he kept getting dragged and dropped and he went from an emerging talent who got 260 possesions and 19 goals in his second season to a stumbling wreck, which Frawley tried to solve by sending him to the backline.

Tambling needs to be told Sh!t happens, get back on the bike keep improving and here is one single thing to work on for the next month to improve your game. In short one bad game deserves a bit of coach support not a berating.

I sit near the bench and at one point, I am sure I saw him come off and sit on the bench and at first refuse to talk on the phone (to the coach). Did anyone else see this? He will be at Coburg next week.
Molly

Very interesting observation Mollster and glad someone noticed this. Read in the paper somewhere it was quoted that Tambling spent the last 20 minutes sitting on the bench looking what was the word "disgruntled" I think it was and Wallace saying that he will be spoken to during the week regarding his "attitude". I find this quite disconcerting as it appeared he was not at the "G" last night.

I was interested to know what this was about, but you may have summed it up here. :(

Re: Tambling - FIRE UP!

I would drop him simply because he wasn't working hard enough. He has talent, he has the skills, but he's choosing not to work hard enough to use them.

IF the guy won't run until he feels his guts are gonna burst, then he can sit on the bench at Coburg.

Gosh there are alot of impatient *smile*wits here...

Does anyone remember Leon Davis starting out at Collingwood...a scrawny kid that did the odd magical stuff but was lucky to get 10 possessions a game...very inconsistent. Davis in recent years has become an important cog in the Pie lineup

Richard Tambling is a deadset replica that will turn out a far better player than Davis. How many youngsters can kick 4 goals in a quarter against quality opposition...he is just going through a long learning stage just as Davis did.

Of course he isn't going hard enough...and he will be dropped...just like Davis was on several occasions...kids like these need time...go ahead and bag him you gutless wonders.

Come back and say you were wrong when he starts blitzing...but you gutless wonders would simply delete your posts...because you are all weak as pi$$

You come on here bagging people for bagging him and what do you do compare him to Neon Leon.........what bigger insult could you offer to the poor kid.

Bling has a heart bigger than a pea. ;D

Wonder why no one has mentioned that Bling has had hammy problems the last month ..
Wouldn't be easy playing with a niggling injury like that guys

Then why is he playing. The seasons shot give some other kid a run and Bling sometime to recuperate. We wouldn't want to risk a guy who already has a history of hamstring trouble would we.

Twallace is treating Bling the same as he treated Rodan. Eventually he'll use Bling as trade bait as the kid has obviously had enough and has lost interest.

You have made some big assertions on here today Walhalla. On what do you base these. Opinion or are you privy to something where not. The reason I ask this is you make the statement like it is fact as opposed to your opinion. I would be seriously worried about a kid who has just singed a 3 year deal that has lost interest as you claim.

Re: Tambling - FIRE UP!

Im glad he was disgruntled, sitting on the bench with one kick.

That's his saving grace right there.

it's better than being pleased, given his circumstances.

Athough maybe he'd do better if he found a way to enjoy his footy

Re: Tambling - FIRE UP!

20 year olds are prone to things like inconsistency and even the odd bout of petulence. There's two ways to treat it this week:
(1) Drop him to teach him a lesson.
(2) Put all kinds of acid on him to redeem himself in the seniors this week.
Which way will TW go? As evo would say ... meh. Doesn't really matter long term. I'm a fan of Tambling (maybe it's an NT loyalty thing) but I'd drop him this week to set a standard. His effort needs to improve to get back in. Take a kick in the pants Richie and come back a better young man.

Agree hop and yes I agree he needs a spell at Coburg. If for nothing else to get a smell of the leather again and a bit of confidence back. It can be as rewarding as punishing given Coburg are doing well at the moment.

Bill you maybe right, but what concerns me is another posters observations of Bling coming to the bench and apparently refusing to speak to the coaching staff on the phone. I suspect this is the incident that was referred to in the Media where Wallace commented that he would be spoken to during the week. No matter who you are you when the coaching staff want a minute of your time, you had better listen. Bowden copped a serve last week and if Bling intends to hang around he better get used to it. It happens to the best of them. God how would he be travelling under Rocket Eade who gave quite a few of his players a very public bake on TV the other night.

Everyone has bad days.

I agree with your sentiments BJ but unfortunately these '1 bad games' are starting to add up.
