I can't be bothered reading the articles or your quote of your own post Livers so don't really know what the above comment is referring to but I think it's a breath of fresh air to have a pollie who's game to agree with some ideas instead of the usual bagging of anything to do with the opposing party as is more the norm.
Same as people aligning with one party or another regardless of policies. There's good and bad on both sides.
Now if only Kev would promise to scrap the GST he'd be home and hosed.
What ever happened to the 'promise' of abolishing stamp duty when GST was implemented?
How do these guys constantly get away with breaking a promise that a businessman would be sued over when breaking such an agreement?

Howard has been on the run all week with his party's behaviour and now Rudd turns the focus back to policy.
Regardless of if Rudd keeps up his good work it is very healthy for this country to have a quality opposition.
keating went to an election against hewson saying never ever 6 years after trying to get it in when he was hawkes treasurer !!!!!won the election and promptley introduced a 30% SALES TAX !! thats what i remember [Hey Pesto! said:Speaking of knowledge, I know that I heard Howard say, 'never, ever,' when asked if he would introduce a GST.
I remember that, what about you, Poppa?

Agree with the healthy opposition, bloody good thing.
$4Billion to broadband Australia! Good luck Ruddy, you're gunna need more than that to pay for the consultants

Bracksy is only keeping things alive due to his "revenue raisers" on every bridge and behind every rubbish bin, catching poor bastards who take their eye off their speedo for 2 seconds. :-X

Actually Kennett condemned us to a "D" class state by closing all the schools.
Gypsy__Jazz said:Also... I don't get all this whinging about revenue raising with speed cameras. I couldn't think of a better way to raise revenue... I mean surely the abundance of "revenue raisers" is a deterrent for speeders to speed and therefore saves lives by slowing drivers down.

The ALP have such a poor record of financial mismanagement.

Either - a Labor Government that has made a mess of the state over the last 12 years or a factionalised opposition. No real difference their next choice
Either - a Labor Leader who is trying to distance himself from pervious leaders who mis-managed. He does have a touch of charisma or an unknown speedo wearing guy who is leading the conservatives because he belongs to the biggest faction (I read where the lesser factions have given him an ultimatum - win 4+ seats or lose your party leadership - hey guys what about winning the election? Give us a decent alternative) Leaning a little towards Iemma because of the charisma factor. Next choice needed though
Local issues - either - a current Labor member who is trotting out the same promises he trotted out 4 years ago - none achieved or a Nationals candidate who is saying he will achieve these promises unlike the Labor bloke (how are you going to do that from the opposition benches when your leader has already conceded defeat a week out from election day?)
So as per usual I as a Taxpaying constituent have little value in who I vote for - little hope of a real leader standing up and saying there is the goal we have for NSW there is where we want NSW to be - if you want that come vote for us.
I ask surely as a people we deserve better......RT
