Carlisle Utd?
Correct. Carlisle were in the First Division for the 1974/75 season. They had a wretched time but managed to beat Everton 3-2 at Goodison Park in December and then in March, adrift at the foot of the table, beat Everton 3-0 at Brunton Park, a result that went a long way to denying Everton the championship (ultimately won by Derby County).

Hanshin's question.

Hanshin's question.

I would challenge that 'wretched time' comment... granted they were relegated immediately, but 12 wins in your first top flight season was a good haul... which leads onto...

Of those twelve wins, they defeated 6 OTHER (current) premier league teams that year... who were the six?
And for a bonus 1/2 point... which other current premier league team did not beat them that year?

I'll put that into context by saying they led the league in September and then slid down the table, much as Millwall did in 1989/90.

I have nine current Premiership sides other than Everton who were part of the 1974/75 First Division (not including, famously, Manchester United). I'll have to do some digging although I reckon I know the last part of the question.

Chelsea
Middlesborough
Tottenham
Birmingham
Arsenal
Manchester City

Beat WBA in an FA Cup tie....

... is the right answer.
Missed the bonus point... Carlisle beat Tottenham 1-0 at home and drew awaw 1-1.

Your question M.J.

27, one of them's got to be right

None of these are right JB, unless my source is wrong which I am hoping is not. Are you guessing or do you think you have the right answer?

I know for a fact he kicked 19 of 8 and more so I just adding a few more for the 7's. Let's try 24.
