a couple of very serviceable games in 2015, several poor ones pre that. Lets give the bloke a go, very very very late bloomer and more so played with his limitations. He will make a few errors (they all will) lets not crucify just yet, we can do the that following day.

The back page of the HUN talks about Richmonds new ruck strategy.... which seems to be Ivan is injured and Hampson, our back up ruckman, will play instead.

Why hasn't any other side thought of doing that before???

Yep. Little do they know Hampson's gonna be our decoy witches hat.

Don't be surprised if he kicks the ball with his foot during the game.
Been training all pre season for this.
Time to shine

Can't do any worse than the last time he played....1 disposal in 83% game time.

Or can he?

Hey, give him time, get off his back, give him a chance, he's due, hope he can turn it around, he's played some servicable games, big men take time to mature, he's over his injuries, he's had some personal issues to cope with, he played a good game against us a few years ago, he's ready..............

you know footy is back when the newspapers are printing page after page of nothing footy stories. today there was a 2 page spread about the "coach pressure index." I mean seriously, WTF?

Why not try a ruck combo of Vickery and Griffiths? Could get away with them and Riewoldt rotating forward or bring in McBean too. Ivan is on his last legs. Someone has to step up to that role over the next year or two, it's not Hampson. Weak selection if he plays.

That foursome could be quite effective together imo...if given a chance.

Fully agree Barnzy. Pretty much how Hawthorn have setup the past few years.

disagree on the Hawks. they have generally played 2 proven rucks, 2 of Hale, McEvoy and Ceglar. they have been lucky to have one of the few guys who can play legitimately as a forward or as a ruck, Hale. They dont have him anymore so it will be interesting if they keep playing 2 rucks.

at this stage none of TV, Griff or McBean are proven as No1 rucks, we would be going in with 3 no2 rucks. FWIW i reckon it is worth trying though. either of TV or Griff 'might' flourish given the gig fulltime, or between they maybe be at least as effective as Maric, while still being dangerous up forward.

Why not play Hampson who dominated Carlton last time?

Hampson may have got a fair number of tap downs but far to few went to a Tiger. As for the rest of his game tonight, completely anonymous.

Where a man down with this bloke. Tap outs? To who?
Watch the boundary throw ins, clueless, hits the ball anywhere

He's hopeless. The crowd roared when he took his only mark deep in the last quarter. The shot at goal was an embarrassment.

Still angry we recruited him when it was obvious he was no good.
