Scratch Match 12 Sep

Really worried if Chol comes in. I just don’t trust him, and think he could be a Very weak link in a big Final. Would rather try something left field, with possibly Balta playing 2nd ruck if Astbury comes back. I know it’s a bit late in the piece, but just think Balta would compete so much better.

We won't play him for the sake of it and Dimma has did this in our side in past with players needs to perform.

That’s an option I’d forgotten about , we ll see I suppose however 2 rucks is important in particular with oppo that have qty rucks

I wouldn't be moving Balta as we will face some big forwards like Dixon and Hawkins in the finals and even though our system of defence means Balta may not have a lot of direct one on one contests we don't want to risk a lighter framed backman like Astbury who can be ragdolled by the big boys.
Astbury is an option up forward and for forward line ruck work too.
remember he has kicked goals up forward.
we just don't need him to go '' down the line Dave ' if he's a forward

Your talking about Dave years ago is super reliable now as a key back.Dave stays we're he is takes the monster forwards his a traditional backman and Balta the Rance type takes the next one frees up Grimes to play on medium or smalls and even intercept. That's a solid 3 there.

Spot on. Imagine Dixon having Astbury, Balta and Grimes to contend with? What other tall is kicking any goals for them? Marshall? Georgiades? Westhoff??? Please.

It also allows Balta to push up the ground like Rance used to and just chop off every attack up on the wings.

Interesting Broad played wing and ruck!

Astbury on one half of the game. Not ready yet?

Chol 8 contested marks!

Higgins - small forward 4 goals

Caddy - forward

I reckon Chol will replace Soldo, Caddy to replace Lynch.

caddy...better off for the run...had moments
asto...at times...as best he can...only a half
broady...second ruck role really well...standout
mabs...my god the ruck leap photo

Yep the Mab's leap is amazing, not sure why he doesn't do it all the time at AFL level a lot of time Mab's seems to stay down or side steps opposition ruckmen.

So if it was a 10 v 10 again? pretty open forward line for Mab's to lead into one would think :D , still if it gives him confidence can't hurt.

My bad! Peter Burge said it was an 18 v 18 scrimmage game so you can add a bit more weight to Mab's performance.

He has at times , but 1 game in about 3 or 4 or does it in one quarter and then goes missing.

Nah, he played 3-4 servicable role games, a couple of absolute rippers and 2 ordinary.

Looking at the video, very low pressure game. But Chol seemed to have better timing when leaping for the ball.

Umpiring looked to be ok too ;)
