We need to ensure Wallace wants to coach us before we sack frawely. I say have Miller start negotiations now with Wallace. If he's interested give frawely 4 weeks notice.

Start negoiations now - after round 1 - I don't think so Harry. Besides from what I heard on Friday night on 3AW when a talk back caller begged Wallace to coach us -he isn't interested.

Personal attacks on me Khan prove you know we are right....4 years and the team has no respect in the football world at all they are a laughing stock like Brisbane were 4 years ago and they made the hard decisions....get real and I do know his contract take it from me. He will not be sacked during the year mark my words...if they continue down hill Frawley will resign at the end of the year and I heard that interview with Wallace after the game and he never said no to coaching the tigers.....and finally I won't f&%# off I am entitled to my opinion this is not the middle east

Let me invite you to a 21st birthday celebration at Punt rd on saturday 27th september 2003 at 3.00pm. The occasion to celebrate 21 years of no grand finals for the Richmond football club ;D
In attendance the clown Frawley with his loser mate Stewart Louwe in attendance. It will be like the old days at Moorabbin. No victories, but plenty of good times.
We are a laughing stock and its becoming a bit of an embarrassment being a tiger supporter.
As Harry says, who cares about our reputation for sacking coaches. Other than two days of media bombardment, another story comes along and all the plebs will forget.
Frawley hasnt a clue. At some stage this year he will be sacked.

im not even sure if diggler or laff have ever posted something constructive regarding our club.sure we all hate the way we have been over the last 20 odd years but dont let get facts in your way laff and doggler.
*frawley was the at the very least 3rd in line behind sheedy and thompson.why you ask?simple our rep in sacking coaches.you think aspiring or ex coaches would be belting down the door to get the job IF danny goes?
*id like to know your thoughts of danny in 2000 and 2001 i bet it was completely different to your opinion of him now.says alot about both of you really.
*you both want wallace well hell what has wallace done?got the bulldogs as far as he could and presto no flag.why the hell would we go after a coach who leaves in the middle of a contract and knows the going is getting to tough.
its people like you that gives us supporters and more importantly our club a bad name.

Laff, the points you raised earlier about his contract - the performance based components - fact everyone's are aware of those. These were outlined in the
media when the contract extension was signed. So there is not one thing you have said about the contract that is not general information.

As for Wallace - he said that he didn't wan't to talk about replacing any coach after round 1 of a season. Besides Mr Wallace probably has his eye on another job that maybe become
vacant at the end of the year.

And in defence of Khan - you said you were entitled to your opinion - you are 100% correct. But it is a 2 way street and Khan is entitled to his.

Thanks Koalli

Laffs

You are entitled to your opinion yes. But when it comes to shear negativity I lost the plot. Normally I dont swear but after reading the over the top emails about sacking Danny I saw red. I will apologise for swearing but in the Five years that I have been posting on Richmond boards (roarpower, tigerfury, bigfooty and here) I cant remeber a positive thing from either of you. Just mutural pats on the back for a job well done.

I have no real love of Danny ( just ask TigerFury about my opinion of Rodan being down the back line in the last two quarters Friday night) but we cant sack him we have to wait until his contract ends or he resigns. Thats the cold hard truth. Nothing more nothing less. We have to get the respect of the coaching faternity. To do that we have to stand behind our team and coach.

Lets Roar

Khan

Its people like Diggler, Laff and co which keep companies today afloat by making tough and hard decisions.

Whilst I'm sure Frawley won't be sacked, questions have to be asked. Anyone who was at Friday's game would have left dissapointed. I saw no change in the way we played last year in terms of kicking to Richo and pinning our hopes on him kicking a bag. We have been found out by other teams and I've said before, you have half won the game when you do so.

So what if we have to sack a coach or ten to get where we want to be. I want RFC to be consistent every year and we've had 23 years where we've played in finals a few times, and I can fully understand why people like Diggler, Laff and Co express their opinions. Also I understand why JohnsonToRicho and Khan express their thoughts and anger at these opinons.

I for one don't won't to wait another 23 years for a premiership(Sheeze I'll be over 50!). I want one every year and if it means getting rid of a coach, player, management so be it!!.

We all love RFC at heart and just want to see great consistent passionate football!!! ;D

FIRE UP THIS WEEK BOYS AND SEND THE DOGS BACK TO THEIR KENNEL!!!!!!! ;)

In the words of that wonderful movie "Blessed are the cheesemakers" :rollin

Geez, do we need a win, or do we need a win? ;D

Go Tiges, you can do it. :D

I have to agree with dig/laff in regards to Frawley. If he fails again this year and already it doesn't look good, then he should be told to step down.

Frawley has had the full support of the club and has had ample opportunity to improve the team and the list and so far has failed on both accounts. For a team that has only made 1 finals series in the last 8 years we have a very ordinary group of core players, most of who are on inflated contracts and an average group of youngsters, most of who look set to follow in the great Richmond tradition of mediocrity.

Frawley should be given the rest of this year to prove his worth or at least until round 17 and if the team doesn't show enough improvement then he should be asked to step down and take his assistants with him. 4 years is more than enough time to prove your worth.

This has to be the 'funniest' thread out, and Diggles must be cracking up at the effect his stupid throw away line at the start has caused. ;D

I can't take this seriously. Of course if we didn't win a game for the year I'd expect the coaching to be looked at contract or not.

BUT

We have lost ONE game, and this talk is ridiculous. I'm not that happy about losing either, but geez give them a chance.
All you negative people mightn't realise it, but mathematically we're still a chance to make the 8. ;)

GO TIGES!

This game frightens me, as it has the possibility of tearing the absolute heart (or what will be left) out of the club for 2003, and possibly end Spud's career.

I have been defending Spud all summer, but whilst not being as hard core as diggler, I don't think Danny will be around next year.

Now while he should be joined by a few players, he has created alot of this mess thru bad recruiting and an over inflated opinion of the list of players he oversees.

The drafting is a major concern. He has clearly shown that he prefers players from other clubs than going for untried youth. So far he has about broken even with wins from Cameron, Sziller (at least for 2001), Stafford, King (at least for 2000, 2001) with Johnson and Blumfield surely to join this list.

The bads have been shocking - Hudson, Houlihan with the jury on the negative side on Nicholls and Fleming but we must see how they go first.

What has happened in the period since Rd 1 2002. How can nearly every player fall away so badly?? In 2001, every player was prepared to run and create and take chances. This was highlighted by blokes like Tivendale and Bowden being sensational using their pace and foot skills. Now they look scared to leave their man in case they stuff up or get caught on the rebound.

Now, this mindset has to be coming from somewhere, and me thinks that this may be from the coaches box.

I will give it a few more weeks, but if they don't start having a dip, I will be happy to see Spud exit stage left.
I can handle losing, as long as they are trying to win and guys are taking risks.

Did anybody notice Rodan only leave Davis' side about twice during the game?? He even looked to scared to run and create.

And as far as Wallace goes, he would take the tigers job in 2 seconds flat. His wage has gone from
$400k+ to about $80k. And the way he speaks, I get the impression that he would relish the challenge to turn the group around even though he publicly said he wouldn't want the job.

My Demon supporting brother told me today that he heard at work the rumour that Danny Frawley will be sacked in 5 weeks and moving back to St. Kilda and the coaching position will be taken by someone who was coaching last year (ie Terry Wallace).

Yes it was on the 3AW rumour file yesterday morning Julz.

Rosy says its only round 1 (no disrespect rosy), but I don't care if its round 1, round 21 or pre-season. Its the way we are playing thats a real concern. Our play is too negative and reactive and we cannot score enough to win games. We rely on stopping teams scoring in order to win games. This is totally due to Frawely and his coaching staff.

He has had 4 years and I have seen no improvement at all. People will say - how about 2001. My response to that is that 2001 served a real dis-service to RFC because it gave us a false sense of where we were at. Most of our wins were scrappy and we had to force the wins, relying alot on our defence and taggers.

The huge losses to Essendon and Brisbane in the finals showed that we weren't close to flag contenders, however we finished 3rd and thats all that counted to alot of richmond people.

We could not and still cannot kick enough goals to consistently win games. This is not the fault of Richo and the forwards, its the fault of the whole team and our game style.

My immediate Ins and outs -

In : Wallace (impressive form in the past for doggies and shows alot of attacking flair)
Out : Frawely (due to poor form, and defensive frame of mind)...

When I see 5 goals kicked without a tiger touching it, after a kick out from a point, you have to ask yourself who is the clown running the show? No other club in the AFL is as inept as us in this department. Spud was supposedly a defender. Well his *smile* message is not getting through at all. Sack him!

Haha :D

I dislike what I saw as much as anyone, I can see what you guys are saying, but I'd rather live in hope that things will get on track.
Yes it was very much same old same old.....but the coach isn't going to be sacked after round 1.
I just prefer to support than bag, then take action at the appropriate time.
Will I sound like a dill if I say I still live in hope we'll win the premiership this year ? (don't answer ;D)

We allowed the short kick in to the pockets (which isn't necessarily a bad thing) but instead of holding the backpocket up we left him alone to play on and kick over our zone. You would reckon after it happened once it would be fixed but no we let it continue all bloddy night .

IMO, you're absolutely right, RR.

Can Danny coach? I don't know if we'll get to find out the real answer, but go back to 2000. We almost made the finals, in Danny's first season, but a long list of injuries finally killed our chances and remember that we were around the top four for quite a while, even with the injuries. That was followed by a top four finish and finals appearance in 2001. Our style of play that season was ugly, at best, but effective in getting us to the finals.

2002 was the horror of all seasons. Everything that could go wrong probably did. All of a sudden the Club is under pressure from everyone. IMHO, Danny is now coaching like a man under pressure. This could explain some of your queries RR.

None of our players get out of their comfort zone at this footy Club. You know why? Because they don't need to. If they don't produce the Coach will get the flick. But because no coach with any real credentials would want or need to coach us, we will only ever get a coach with little or no experience. When they are eventually put under pressure, due to losses, they get the flick. The players are off the hook and we start all over again. No other department gets looked at, it's always the coach. Has anyone stopped to think that it's not all the coach's fault, given that we've had many coaches and no success for a very long time?

Danny's defensive style kills any initiative the players may have and he might want to address our negative game style, but with the added pressure of recent times, the type of football produced by our players more than reflects the coach's 'mood'.

If Danny can stop coaching like he's under pressure and his job is on the line and start coaching like he's solely interested in getting the best out of the players then he's got a hell of a lot more chance of retaining his job. You can't help anyone who won't help themselves.

I agree it's up to the Club and Danny to handle the pressure and instead of this endless line of scapegoats, we could actually support people to get better at what they do.

I understand the need to make hard decisions, but there's a difference between making a decision just for the sake of being seen to be doing something and making a decision that seems obvious to some. We've been using the former approach for a long time now and where has it got us? Exactly where we are now - ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE!

We're paying for our sins of the past and if we keep giving someone the flick, just to ease the pressure, then we'll all be posting the same negative stuff in five years time.

I have said it before and I'll say it again and probably again later on. Frawley's coaching career will live or die by the players he chooses to take the field to represent him. If the players make bad decisions, skill errors or don't put in and instead are happy to coast along in their comfort zone and Frawley continually selects them, then he deserves whatever they deliver.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. Frawley is into his 4th season. He has been through contract negotiations with every player on the list. He has overseen 4 years of drafting. If he cannot put together a committed, skilled, disciplined unit in this time then he most likely never will.

The pressure that surrounds Frawley is all of his own making. If he is strong and disciplined in his coaching and believes in his team and gameplan he will not let it affect the way he coaches. If he is not then he will become defensive and reactive and as a result performances will suffer.

Frawley has had the complete backing of the club since he started. He has been able to choose his assistants and has not been constrained by the limited budgets in the footy department like those before him and he has also been able to spend 100% of the salary cap as we are all too away of unlike other clubs. So really what more does he need? He either delivers some significant improvement or his time is up.

I agree 100% with Tigerfurious. Like previous coaches he clearly overates our list. He has had numerous opportunities to make a stand, but the same olds are still in the side. We need a coach who is prepared to stand up and say to supporters we are rebuilding, we will recruit youth, we will go backwards, before we go forwards. The old players have had their time. I can cop this. Instead we recruit players who are mere band aid solutions. Yes we will win a few games this year, but we will never win a flag with this coach or the majority of the playing list.
