We've got some benchmarks in place. Toby Conway. Samson was too good for him in 2023(?) but Conway troubled him. A few weeks ago Conway was flogged by Meek at AFL level but Conway is one of the hottest ruck stocks in the game. Leek is one of them too.

Madden. That's the other emerging stock. Fans don't know him; he's GWS.

You see kids like McCoughlan that come in and they stand out, they might not get 100 touches but they have something.

Personally I think its more they are playing the long game with him. Its telling that he was the primary ruck last week with Naismith also on the ground. Lets see how they play him tomorrow.

What has clearly been happening is that they want him to play significant time in the ruck and to do that he has to be playing vfl atm

The coaches have set him clear goals for what he has to do at VFL level to get a senior game. He aint quite there yet.

Samson is 200 laps behind these fellas. If we offered Ryan in a trade for any of these the other club would laugh us out the room.

Hang on, scoop. It's even worse than that. Last week against Footscray he got between 4 and 6 disposals. Diabolical!

And yes, he is 200 laps behind them as at May 2024.

Nank desperately needs a proper chop out in the ruck.
Balta n Liftmykiltup need a chop out who can play structural big forward. Got nothing forward if one's rucking or off hurt.
Samsung is actually somewhat capable of performing either / both roles to some degree.
Team is buried under both a disastrous injury and horrifying form problem right now so it can't actually get any worse than it already is. Throw the Samsung into the side for a few weeks n make him earn his keep. A few more games of senior footy can only be either very good for his development or prove that we need to move on to someone else. Desperately need more development for Samsung n I'll be pissed off if we even consider that big Crawdad lump before him.

He wiped the floor with Conway only a couple of weeks back, Scoop. Has levelled up since finally getting a full bloody game. 26yo.

Certainly puts in perspective how long rucks can take considering Ryan is 3 years younger, was drafted 3 years later (and a late convert to the sport).

Hang on, so now you go from Max Gawn and Tim English comparisons to an emerging five weeks of Lloyd Meek as a good result and a benchmark of success?

The bar is continually lowered and lowered and lowered. Fair dinkum if you have to wait eight years and another three years to get Lloyd Meek that’s a win??? Rather trade for an Ivy Maric, Toby Nankervous, Darcy Cameron or any other ruck example. Even Bully’s love child Bailey Williams is a better result.
