Sam Lloyd

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

We don't seem interested in Garlett and Betts types. Sheet look how far they got Carlton. Even Cyril is just a cameo player.
Does Sydney have Betts or Garletts? I'd prefer a Walters who is closer to a Sam Lloyd than a Garlett anyway. Smart players who can make position mark it and kick it. And tackle. We've dumped a shed load of half forwards/roll through types onto the list. Not one of them plays like Jay Kennedy-Harris but they have their merits.

Another 2 goals from Slippery.
I'm impressed. Putting pressure on others for a round 1 spot..

Could have easily been three but I think the moment got to him
One of those goals was a beauty and was right when we needed it - straight out of his highlights reel

It was an usual recruiting season but so far it looks spectacular.

this is perhaps true but the club has clearly recruited based on need, with Nahas gone and King unable to play a full season, we needed a player like this bloke to be able to come in & play a role. like what i have seen thus far

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Shown good adaption to the AFL pre season pace, looks to have a few tricks an backs himself too win his own footy, interesting variations in our small forwards, King, Arnott, Banfield an Lloyd

Sorry I thought I typed 'unusual' recruiting period

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

There seems to be something about Lloyd in that he might prove to be a bit of a surprise packet at times during the season. If nothing else he adds depth to the list.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

How lively was he!

So what's the knock? Endurance? Kicking looked neat enough.

Didn't like Lloyd's goal celebrations one bit. It was wangaratta.

Boy scores his first goal in Richmond colors, it's a life changing event that deserves celebrating.

He's always been like that. Frankly I don't care if he twirls the ball on his finger and does hand stands like Jacko did, as long as he keeps kicking goals. I am very excited by the prospects of Lloyd. Think he is the most likely out of the small forwards we drafted for 2014.

Yeah, I've got no problem with it. It's all part of what makes small forwards the most annoying players in the game for opposition supporters.

He did it on No.2 also. I take other posters point, and agree. I'll be wrapt to see him waggle fingers Jesse James style and do a soccer aeroplane 50 times. It just annoys me. A bit like dean polos leopard head annoyed me.

The lad was playing for Deniliquin a few years ago, the Wang is a pretty big deal for him.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

As his President, I was proudly celebrating the Sammy Lloyd goals, especially after some of his early kicks were off target (the Tiger syndrome.)

I couldn't help comparing him to Robbie Nahas. Sam seemed more involved throughout the game, possessed more desire to get the ball and at this stage, he seems to be a better kick.

It's early days, but I have high hopes that he'll be a hungry crumber around our goals, who is also prepared to chase down the opposition defenders.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Still needs to build his tank, he was largely unsighted in the second half.

Yep, that’s my knock, AFL level skills and a surprisingly good contested ball player. VFL level (or worse) running.
