Round 9 - Other games

Have to agree with Ratten, there is no reward for tackling, especially against a team like Geelong

I tip my hat to rats.
Why are NRL and premier league coaches allowed to unleash?
What makes these Fkwits so protected.
Im sick of the excuse it will follow down to junior levels, what about the bias and different interruption's from game to game.

One of the jurnos just asked Ratten 'did you see the throws"
Ratten was really careful in answering it. 'I didn't say it, you said it, is that the way they disposed of the ball. Thats disappointing"
Where the *smile* was that question last week?

The throws were bad, but the non holding the ball decisions really ground my gears. Selwood was tackled and was spun around 360, umps reckon it’s okay and play on. Cheating cants.

There footy shows on every 10 minute's.
They were good enough to show how we use the man on the mark to favour our game style,
But they refuse to show the blatant throwing of the ball and incorrect disposal after being tackled.
Im sick and tired when they use the excuse, there's a shortage of junior umpires.
99% are volunteers, start paying poor bastrards and then you might get more involved.
Why isn't there the same shortage in Netball, basketball and Soccer?
Its prehistoric excuse.

Think you will find the clubs are willing to pay the fine around 25K. As a Raiders supporter Stuart gives Refs A spray and the club cops it
I guarantee you if Ratten gets fined.
Lindsay Fox will pay it.
Its time the 18 coaches started unleashing,
The umpiring is destroying the game.
You get tackled and ball falls free, it's holding the ball.
Its a joke now.
Players are getting caught, and the umpires are refusing to pay the free kick

Actually it is the usual problem - they pay it sometimes.

Some of the play on calls after a mark or free are also absurd. At time players go off for a walk, have a fag, wash it down with a beer and no play on. At other times players deviate one nanometre from the line after taking their first step back and it is play on. You see it every week, a few players surprised by being called to play on, meanwhile other players anchored to the mark pleading that the player with the ball has run 50m sideways and they refuse to call play on.

Gross inconsistency and incompetence.

It is a farce.

Gotta keep the game moving.

Wankers are killing the game

Agree triple s, the umps seemed determined to call play on very early tonight in particular. No doubt it’ll be different tomorrow night.

Might be a question for @LeeToRainesToRoach Is there a correlation between higher scoring and more free kicks? And perhaps even specific umpires. Saints, and for that matter Geelong, could have been awareded heaps of frees not paid including many within 20 metres of goal. Seems obvious that pay those and scoring increases.

Can't stand when commentators
Say 'the free kicks even themselves out"
They don't for us

Finals being the qualifier,
So far this year our set shots and Demons are worst behind saints
Yep, hard to believe after tonight. Kicking for goal is a forward's means of making a living; their 'bread and butter.' It's like a carpenter hitting nails with a hammer; a surgeon being able to cut along the marked line with the scalpel. This is your job. You get highly paid to do it.
You are a professional who can practice it for hour after hour, and should. Set-shots especially. You must have honed the technique that works for you.

That includes the mental preparation and discipline along with the ball control. Don't make it out to be harder than it is. In the words of the inimitable Keith Miller, famous test cricket all-rounder and Battle of Britain fighter pilot, when reporters asked about the pressure of scoring runs:

" You call that pressure! That's not pressure. Having a Messerschmidt hot up your ars trying to shoot to pieces ... that's what I call pressure!"
(Or words to that effect)
