Round 22 - the dead goldfish games.

Does anyone know tbe actual rule when a player has a fresh air kick trying to kick the ball? I see around half paid as frees.
Was always my understanding since I was a kid was that if you failed to make contact with the ball by foot in any way when in the act of kicking whilst being tackled it was deemed "dropping the ball", much in the same way as missing contact with the fist in the act off handballing and being tackled. Thus the tackler would be rewarded with the free.

If the ball made any contact with the foot or fist in the act of kicking or handballing even if not a proper disposal it would be play on as legal contact had been made regardless of the outcome.

The rules and interpretations of them are BS now and make no sense to me at all.

carlton are certainly trying hard and going pretty well.

But I think dees will wear them down and pull away towards the end.

I thought Adelaide was clearly the best team in 2017 and should’ve won it. They were an offensive powerhouse much like the cats.
But unfortunately for them they ran into the "Defensive" Powerhouse of the RFC which ground them down and then kept them down.

The difference is during that season the other teams close on the ladder like us were in a better run of form than the equivalent teams are this season.

As for having a fresh airey it doesnt matter, unless you are tackled in the act of trying to kick. Then its a raffle what happens these days,

Yep that's as I understood, a free every time, but it's not how it's being adjudicated anymore.

This game is meh.

We will slap both the Dee's and the Blues in the finals if we play them.

Best team for most of the H&A sure, but should've won it is a decent stretch. Finished a draw above us. Their dominance and favouritism was overstated and overhyped, thankfully, and it contributed to us winning the flag. Also most opposition fans and pundits just couldn't comprehend the idea of us winning. At the time I can see why they were hot favourites with all non-tigers, but in hindsight, when you look at the data, they should only have been warm favourites.

Melbourne aren't looking anywhere near as dangerous as they did earlier in the year. Was hoping they'd have the form to knock out Geelong in the finals if they're matched up against them but I don't see it.

Can someone please show Silvagni what happens when you keep running your mouth and pretending to be a tough guy.

Most of the downfield frees this year have been super soft, none softer than that one on Sparrow.

Tigersnake, you forgot to mention the impact of the player whom the Crows blooded in the 17 Final Series, Ranger Hubris.
