Round 22 - the dead goldfish games.

The Aints timed their run way too early. They needed to hold in the 3rd and make their run in the last, they gave Brisbane time to re-gather which we didn't.

Beat Hawthorn on Sunday and our game next week against Essendon is absolutely meaningless.

I'd be resting Lynch, Prestia and Cotchin at a minimum next week.... Maybe Nank too.

I'd be tempted to actually rest half the team.

Weren't around for the Richo show? It was uncanny how many sodas he'd miss but continually goal from 50 metres out.
I was there. he never missed that many that easy in 1 game. 2 sure, maybe 3 on a rare occasion but I doubt it.

These days they all get a week off between the home n away series and finals anyway. Why would we b looking to give a heap of players two weeks rest before the finals???

This triggered one memory of a game v Carl I think. Richo should have had 5 or 6 in first quarter he was so dominant. Ended with 1. So by deduction he missed 3 or 4 easy ones.

On sodas... many open play shots are as gettable as a set shot from 30. No man on mark, time to steady or go onto outside of foot if that is preferred style. We should be upset by them as much as a set shot miss.

Nah I'm talking absolute soda set shots. Richo had heaps of games when he missed, for example, a soda, and easy one, and a couple of gettable ones. Thats different. I remember heaps of Richo games when he kicked say 5 and you think 'he could have kicked 8 or 9', but that may have included 1, max 2 sodas. But I'm making the distinction here, easy and gettable are different from set shot sodas. Besides, Richos missed goal legend has grown with time. He wasn't good, but he wasn't as bad as often as the mythology.

Maybe its happened before, probably has, but I'm not aware of it. 4 set shot soda misses from a key forward.

No if they had kicked the goals that they should have the lions would have been dead and buried. Lions were hopeless in the last quarter and apart from from a couple of moments by players like Rayner they were gone. Saints lost this by missing easy shots on goal. Brisbane survived by default and will be be the easybeats in the finals.

St Kilda list still needs so much work, too many unskilled battlers across the board. Midfield is full of plodders.

Desperate for Coffield, Clark & Gresham to step up and become A graders and actually be on the park.

One ladder that resulted from my last two rounds predictions has them 6th us 7th. Wasn't from any improbable match result. Key results Dees to beat Lipns and pies d blues next week.
We can't finish higher than 7th.
