Cripps playing like Petracca is a plot twist I didn’t see coming.

Pittonet underrated as a ruckman based on his first two weeks, gave the Blues mids a clear advantage especially in the 1st half. I suspect the center dominance is papering over the cracks of a shaky defensive unit. Weitering is top shelf, but Oscar McDonald and Newman just do a job and McGovern is injury prone and still unproven long term as a defender. I would like to say I enjoy their game style but they booed Dusty in round 1 so I can't.

Similar to Saints 2020 and Swans last year, so let's see how long they can maintain this as teams study them deeper.
also coming out of the blocks that hard early can be hard to maintain ,

Good chance they run out of juice

Cripps was already looking banged up last night - there is no way he can keep that up all season.

Our loss doesn’t look so bad now - 20 pts up at qtr time and 15 at 3 qtr time.

How many grand finals can Carltoon play in one season, they have already played 2 and it’s only Rd 2.

Can't decide if Carltank are the real deal or if we and the doggies have made them look good. If next week is the wees and poos we won't get any closer to working it out. I do know they looked bloody good in passages last night and I'm already done with that god-awful theme song

The model for the opening games is simple..
Clearance..forward handball to outside mid..pace..deep kick into the leading forward i50m. Simple but effective play.
Clubs with strong midfields now seem to be thriving with the 6,6,6 rule.

Just beat Geelong tonight Sydney. Pissing with rain again up there apparently. Place is like the city in Bladerunner.

Good post ToO. However, reckon this theme is not just contained to the start of 2022. Been lingering around for a while...well since the rule came into effect actually!

We were fine when our mids were up and about in 2020....badly exposed in 2021 when the guts was decimated by injury.

Core reason for the frustration that the club did not seek to address our issues with the mids in the off season. And for those suggesting no cap space yada yada yada....well strong clubs make strong decisions! Bash and Dave left...maybe it was the right time for 1 or 2 others....?

Geez all the carry on over Franklin they must know he's a certainty to kick 4 goals, I wonder how many the umps will give him?

I'm a bit worried for Paddy Mc if he's playing on Hawkins. They should've rested him tonight.
