Round 2 Other games.

Not going to write the Bulldogs off just yet. They seemed set to improve but perhaps it's just an illustration of how difficult it can be to take the next step as you get towards the top. Been a few curious results this weekend so the unusual conditions might have something to do with it also.

Expected the Saints to be OK this year but still think they have a lot of list & development work to do to sustain it.

Bulldogs look a very ordinary team

Until they play like world beaters against us like last year FFS.

Things seem to not be quite right down the Kennel, bit of off season hijinx and rumors of an unsettled group.

The Crows are pretty much a rabble of a club.
It's still going to be a long way back from the humiliation of 2017.
Three years and counting. Definitely not long enough.

There is still a fair space to that and 37.

But, let us wish the same misery on them. After all, it is good to share.

I'm glad I said over the pre-season that I thought he will be one we regret letting go of.

He will get Brownlow votes in this game.

Dunno if we will regret it, we can't keep em all. I guess Rioli or Castagna were the other options to go but Butler couldn't hold his spot. I'm pleased he's going well at the Saints, he's got ability.

Yeah, he was a very good player, couldn't get a game at Richmond, so he was better off leaving. And it is little surprise he is doing well elsewhere. Doubt he would have got a game at Richmond so good on him and I thought he would do well too.

Such is life, he contributed to our 11th premiership so good luck from me.

The results this round show us that this is the second set of first round of results. Every year there are strange results in the first round and thats what we are seeing this weekend.

Butler just shows how strong our squad is - he was no where near top 22 over the last 24 months - good luck and hope he goes well at the sainters.

Average age was 28.00, Geelong 27.37. Obviously we're running behind schedule, but these were the second- and sixth-oldest Round 2 teams of all time.

Need to correct this, database had a few issues due to cancelled games being left in the fixture.

Hawthorn 28.21, Geelong 27.58 - oldest and fifth-oldest Round 2 teams.

Hawthorn's Round 1 & 2 teams are their two oldest ever.

Other years all wartime/post-war.

Partly due to the delayed schedule, but with the shortened season a lot of teams are going hard for wins rather than affording younger players an opportunity.

Edit: 2020 figure revised slightly downwards. Still a few database gremlins due to layoff.
