Round 13: the Crystal Pepsi games.

I heard Heppell went into a restaurant and then he crapped himself in the restaurant and then they had to close the restaurant.

Have you ever wanted to beat a team so bad, oblivious to how crap they are, that you have doubts on if you could, but when you do, you realise they're nothing worth getting worked up over or were worth worrying about in the first place?

I reckon that's how a lot of Richmond fans came to feel about Carlton over the years.

It's how I feel about Essendon right now. I thought the emotions would be through the roof, but in fact, it's quite the opposite.

I still enjoy it, but boy, they are nothing to write home about.

We felt that about those campaigners as well

bombers got a lot of the ball in the second half, but don't have a potent enough forward set up
blues very dangerous on the counter punch and I reckon they are a serious threat this year

Whenever I checked the scores (didn't watch the game) Carlton were ahead. Looks like they were the better team all night. But I also look at stats and all night Essendon were way ahead in the inside 50s, even when Carlton had more scoring shots - in the end Inside 50s 60/41 in Essendon's favour and scoring shots 25/21 in Essendon's favour.

Is Essendon's forward line just crap, or maybe their back line is just crap? Actually 61% forward efficiency to Carlton tells me that Essendon's defence must be complete rubbish, their own forward efficiency was fine at 45% but their accuracy woeful.

Anyway, Essendon should start the inevitable slide down the ladder now that they have to play the better teams.

Oh, Blues Bloke, you have 1 job in a fortnight - beat the Cats and maybe add a few injuries while you are at it. Hey, It's Geelong coming off the bye, should be easy enough.

Pretendon.
Been Pretendon for a long time now. Get all hot n excited, start gasping for air then collapse n die just as they're reaching the vinegar stroke. Magnificent teasers but without a climax.

Yep. Despite several of the media pundit eggsperts virtually giving the Swans the flag this far out, I still think it's a fairly open year for who will grab this year's flag. I'm not quite convinced the Swans' FL is good enough - relies on a heap of goals from their mids.

Some of these mids have been drinking their own bathwater too. Warner may have taken over from Petracca as closest player type to the GOAT in DM currently. But he can be a selfish player; tries to do too much; reluctant to HB or take the quick option when he finds trouble.
Papley is similar, and McInerney. I like Amartey but he's no Buddy yet. Hayward and McClean bit players although handy.

It's still pretty open IMO. The Bloos have the KPFs to win big finals at the G; the Moggies under Salty will very likely make it; the Dorks a danger team at least for '25. Then the Skunks who over-perform under Fly; injuries going to cruel their chance? It's anyone's.
Agree. I reckon there will be alot of red and white tears in September

At least they got Balta right but Tom DeK a generational player you can build a team around for 10+ years. If you saw him on the post game interview, sad comparison with Ryan (who really needs to hit the gym hard for next 2 years!)
Don't blame Samson.
Samson isn't in the Vikings class.
Blame Clarke that used our 1st pick on a small foward when we had Rioli Bulter Castagna Edwards and throw in Stengle that we picked up for free.

Essendon play a game that won't stand up in big games and finals. When it gets to September success is built on the ability to apply and absorb massive pressure.
Essendon play pretty boy football which isn't going to cut it when the real stuff comes at the end of the season.
We applied enough pressure on them to make them squirm and we had 2/3 of a team available.

The Essendon slide is well and truly on. I can't believe there were people - so-called media 'experts' - stupid enough to believe this was to be anything different. Just another example of the AFL media types embarrassing themselves yet again. The Bombers' wins have come against bottom-eight sides, with the exception of GWS, while taking the best part of three quarters to shake off a rock-bottom North and an injury-ravaged Richmond. And losing to the Gold Coast was putrid.

I love footy.
