Round 10 Other Games

Where were u in 2017?
Bulter running towards goals was unstoppable.

He was dynamite if he got goal side. Blinding straight-line speed. But he is kicking them around corners with deadly accuracy now.

2019 he was trying to run past blokes and kept getting caught. Lots of tackles still, but fewer goals. Played in five consecutive losses. Looked a yard slower and a lot less confident. It wasn't happening for him.

It annoys me too, but its not his fault. Just couldn't get a run at it due to it being so hard to get a game. Showed glimpses though. We made a tough call, looks like it might have been the wrong one, most of the tough calls we've made have been spot-on, which is why we've dominated for 3 seasons. You can't win 'em all.

Not if he rips us in the finals.
You won't be so forgiving.
He has already slap us in round 4.

Going back to the Sydney Collingwood game.
Apparently Quaymoor didn't suffer a broken leg or ankle but a huge 6 inch cut down his leg from the boot of a Sydney player.
People are saying the Sydney players were wearing Metal studs like they do in Rugby.
Metal stops/studs aren't allowed in the AFL.
Aaarrmma I'm Dobbing

Yes that's my take on why he fell out of favour, he kept getting caught with the ball.
If Markov wasn't contracted for this season, perhaps he may have been kept.
Anyhow Aarts is going very well and will continue to get better.

So we had Bellis as the highest possession winner and Butler as the highest goalkicker. Tiges helping other teams look good with our rejects!

In hindsight we have stuffed this up. But this is not the same guy running around in the vfl last year. For whatever reason he had lost a yard and locked confidence. He also lacked awareness, which I find the biggest surprise. Perhaps that is simply down to good coaching at the saints.

Not happy with that *smile* tonight best result for the Tigers was a Gold Coast win.

I look at it a different way. Gold Coast now effectively 3 games behind us so one less team to worry about in a very close ladder with 7 games to go.

Is Butler going for a rubbish pick something to do with salary cap relief, perhaps Rance retiring earlier means we could have kept him?

Butler was on half the money Rioli is on. We stuffed up moving him on. No denying!

its what happens when good players developed at very good clubs go to teams with a bit less quality.
they're going to stand out. its very noble of the Tiges ;)

What happened to umps going into the rooms and running the hand under all the boots?

70% of the players have boots made for them.
I know puma would have the hawthorn boys at the head office in Moorabbin trying on boots.
Metal studs were banned in the late 80's.
Especially when the Aluminium one's were brought out.
They were like knives.
The boots responsible currently are a mix of plastic and metal studs.
They're factory made.
The AFL needs to ban them asap.
Nothing was better the puma Kings or Adidas Copa Mandels.I
Soft leather with a soft plastic stud.
Good in wet and dry conditions.

Kept the wrong Dan in hindsight. Butler has recovered from his injury from 2018, while Rioli hasn't recovered from his in the 2017 GF. And now we have Aarts who's part Jake King and part Butler. Interestingly Butler missed a straight forward set shot last night which he was also no good with us. However he's back to his best in reading ground balls and using his speed and skill to advantage. Anyway, it's done - just need to see what we can do with Rioli now.

No one at Richmond would be able to catch Bulter on the break.
But everyone in the competition would be able to get to Aarts, Rioli and Higgins.
Weller wouldve got to Higgins, Aarts and Rioli.
Im really gutted watching one of my all time favourites Playing so well for such a scum side.

**side note..Stkilda aren't a real team.
Bulter kicks a goal that would go close to GOTY but Gresham and Billings don't run to him to congratulate him.
They just move into the centre.
I compared that to the goal Rioli kicked against WC in 2017, the only players that didn't congratulate him were the ones on the bench.

Butler has always been great in the open. When you look at saints set up they seem to be leaving their forward line empty a lot and then running into space and using their speed.
Butler used to fall down IMO for three reasons
- lack of awareness in traffic (would get run down from behind too often)
- sticking his foot in at the ball instead of putting his head over the ballads losing too many one in ones because of this
- Sometimes he would also try funky little kicks off outside of his boot that didn’t work

not sure if he has got rid of these things or they were more confidence related but having a great year so far so kudos to him.
when you look at our trades/outs (butler, Lloyd, Ellis, Townsend) we aren’t getting much value at the trade table and these guys are generally giving a lot of value to the receiving club filling a need but i wonder what we get in terms of culture and salary cap vs the hardball Essendon approach. Maybe we are winning even if we are losing the individual deal per se in terms of being attractive for free agents etc.

Dan is the man now at St Kilda. He was under pressure to hold his place at Tigerland.
As someone pointed out on Twitter it was Bolton who forced him out of the forward line initially. Stack too was showing truckloads at the time & may still be better long term.
Butler was a good player IMO but just got forced out. I don't blame him for looking elsewhere for opportunity.
The mistake is probably what we asked for in return. The Saints got an absolute bargain. Well played to them.

Still reckon it is great Butler is going so well. Helps lift the value of all our seconds players for future trades
