Round 1 - Changes vs Carlton

After all these years, it's nice to be able to finally declare this a danger game.
Keep getting ahead of yourself like a standard Carlton supporter.

It's going to be another hilarious false dawn to give the rest of us some joy.

Watched replay again
He couldn’t possibly get a game this week
6 disposals says enough
He let Rowell off the chain time after time
Crazy stuff
Might as well put the Orange Witches Hat in his place !

Marlion to the middle.
Daniel to high HFF.
Noah to full back. Runs in the ruck.
Ryan to reserves until he dominates a few games. May have to wait a few seasons.
Gibcus to CHB.
Bolton and Martin in the middle resting deep forward.
Shorty and Broady HBF.
Kids play when they force their selection.
Dylan and Dion bench and sub. They need a rocket atm.
Cumberland plays.
Ross and KMac wings.
As soon as McCauliffe shows his wares in the reserves he will be in the side to stay.
Key forwards behind Tom. A few in the race but target for next years draft/ trading period.

Still think we could fluke a low 8 spot.

Jury is still out on the GWS twins. I was shattered that we didn’t throw everything at Michael’s grandson. I thought Balmy was in with a big chance in the early days.

I really think we are currently facing selection challenges. The blend of slowing experienced veterans and emerging young players has made it difficult to determine the best starting 22. Even the coaching staff may not have a clear answer yet. This season seems to be one of transition and experimentation, I guess we test the younger talents whenever possible.
Perhaps by excluding five older players who are slowing down and replacing them with the top five young talents from the reserves, we could potentially strengthen our team. However, it remains uncertain whether this strategy would yield positive results. Only time will tell.

On Kosi - have you ever seen him play a good game? You need to remember the likes of Hampson/Pattinson/Vickery all got taken after showing some pretty average form. At least Vickery had his moments at times. Tall players seem to be given multiple chances.

Kosi is cymbals Mk11. Watch where his hands are in a marking contest. It's almost guesswork. Even when he marks it it's usually double grabbed. He doesn't fight for front position when he should. He doesn't use his body well in one on ones. He doesn't hit packs hard.

I think Miller has more upside, but it's likely neither are a long term answer.
Quite possibly the case, but I Imagine Kosi will be given a few games to prove himself and adjust to our game plan. He doesn't have to be a "good" forward (id settle for average), but he needs to play his role.

Miller hasn't been helped by throwing him all over the shop, but not sure he'll ever get enough Mongrel to be useful.

I thought he was ok. see how he goes when Lynch is back in.
4 Disposals/2 Marks. 1 eff disposal. No score involvements. 83% game time. And that is OK?

Not alone in performing poorly but even in the 2nd half when we had the ball going our way he wasn't involved.

Yeah it’s early but the signs aren’t great.

Two games I have seen him live and his inability to take the mark is concerning. He does get jobs hands to the footy but his hands are like dinner plates.

Tempting to make wholesale changes but I think we started to play some very good footy in the second half.

I reckon Yze will make a couple of changes but don't think there will be a heap.

It was pretty obvious that both Young and Godcus were batting at least a spot too high in the order on Saturday. Kosi is a big strong body and KPD is easier than KPF. When Lynch returns, switch Kosi back to #1 defender, slide the other two down a spot, drop Capuano let Grimes educate the kids in the twos, pick Lefau and/or Cumbo up forward.

That might ultimately be what happens, but i reckon they will persist up forward for a few more weeks. Hopefully he can line up alongside Lynch and Balta Thursday night and show some improvement.

Should have some mongrel in him as he comes from Kalgoorlie.
