Round 1 (2022) - other games

I think its reasonable to assume Tom Morris's mates dont like him very much?

Bevo goes nuclear in leakgate

this has to be the best round 1 in a while?

Someone on Twitter just leaked out Morris' dirty voice/comments on a female Fox presenter.
Yeah.... just listened to 2 pieces of audio. ... no doubt he'll plead the Trump defence on the first one and clearly was over refreshed on the other... (think he likes to be recognized!)

Ironically it has also emerged that Morris is a Trump supporter.

The band that did the Richo song and the Tipanwuti song,

I fought The Bevo, and The Bevo won

Yes, which is the best attitude to have.

But if you really don't care you don't need to throw mud back right?

Ooh, don't be such a stick in the mud.

One of the entertaining things about the media is that many are muck rakers, but when the mud gets flung back they are often very sensitive little critters.

Why fling back? Because it is fun and a fair number of the journos in the AFL media deserve it.

Just saw it. This is getting real nasty now. Fallout huge for both parties.

A fair bit bigger for one party surely?

bevo challenged a bottom feeding journo, Morris appears to have vilified women, homosexuals, asians and more.

Murdoch will promote him,

but he'd have to hand in his badge at AFL House, surely?

This is the best opening to a season I can recall

theres a few things in the media coverage of 'irrational Bevo goes mental and must be fined a billion dollars' circled wagons media coverage.

1. the unanimous narrative is Tom Morris was reporting factual information - he wasn't. He said Lachie Hunter won't play, and he did play.

2. the unanimous narrative is that Bevo 'stormed out' - if he did, it was the most measured storm out I've ever seen. he said 'I think we might be done? are there any more questions?' and quite calmly stood up and walked out of the room.

On the first point it seems the Bulldogs were so pissed with Morris they named Hunter in the side but had no intention of playing him and made him the sub. Then a player was injured in the warm up so he was switched again. So it seems the intial story that he was out was correct.

On the second point he definitely ended the presser early. It had only been going for a few questions when Bevo pulled the any more questions card and I suspect everyone was too scared to ask one.

Regardless it may be a good idea for Centrelink to put some more security on in case both these blokes are out of a job by Monday.

I think you're onto something regarding the first point. Particularly in hindsight, it looks as though Beveridge was making the point 'you don't tell me who I am playing'.

His histrionics were unedifying and his ire should be focused at the leak at his own club rather than at a journalist.

the point stands that the information headlined 'Hunter wont play' - was wrong. He played.

and Ive seen more dramatic storm outs at Zen Buddhist monasteries.

he definitely wrapped it up promptly, but you see that from a losing coach almost weekly

I really cant see how Bevo could lose his job for that,

But Morris will be Chair of the Fox Integrity, Ethics and Inclusivity Committee by sundown, if the audio is verified

Oh, BTW BR, congratulations on losing your non-contrarian virginity

I agree in the circumstances where the media is getting involved with players or coaches personal lives. Dimma’s or Buckley’s marriages for instance, things like that.
This was different. It was about selection in a team which is a footy journo’s bread and butter. Not a big fan of Tom Morris but he was just doing his job imo, whether Hunter plays or not is a legitimate story. It’s not a particularly interesting one to me but that is beside the point.
If someone is going to unload on the media pick something that matters, something that truly should be out of bounds and could effect a player and his family in a well-being sense.
I just think Bevo was out of line on this one and he has probably hurt the legitimacy of a tirade that would be truly deserved in the future

You might be right. I'll delete.
No, it’s true. I heard Morris talk about it a few years ago when it first arose. Morris said he wasn’t bothered by it, wasn’t sure why Hogan was so angry with him and that they’d not spoken about it when he (Morris) was at the club.

He didn't answer any questions on the game. I imagine because he had none. Their usual method of duck and cheat and throw failed. He's got nothing else. He selected Schache despite overwhelming evidence that he's a spud. Bevo's as sophisticated as corn flakes. I don't think it was planned, he embarrassed his club to pander to his ego.

But, in 2016 he won the ultimate prize in an irresistable Sep raid (albeit using illegal tactics) , he'll always have that to hang his massive hat on.

Did Tom Morris find out the type of information that is never reported?

Bit odd that the day after Bevo has a run in with someone, not one but two pieces of footage involving that person happen to find there way on to the interwebz?

What odds would that get?
