Round 1 (2022) - other games

58,000.

Dunno what’s more pathetic. The number or these dheads on 7 and Fox trying to pump up how great a crowd it is.

Embarrassing number for a game like this. Not what the AFL was hoping for, I bet.
It's a record H&A crowd between the two sides. Lol. That's the best they can literally do.

Melbourne look pretty good to me. Not sure about Ben Brown though, do they even need him? I would be thrilled to have a mid fielder of the calibre of Petracca!

Even I wish we were silverspooned and with a great coach like Poosy to get to this spot.
My goodness I forgot about the foster coach being ushered in by the authorities because of the delinquencies in the Dees club stuardship.

It will be white washed but the era that the Tiges built their team in, and the creativity they displayed in crafting a games plan that turned the game on its head will forever trump how the dees have built this team, regardless of how good they are.

There is something plastic about it all for me.

58000. Rubbish crowd. Minnow clubs both of them
Shitful. Don’t want to go to early as we might have poor crowd tomorrow (flow on from Covid) but that is poor for GF replay plus first game. Since 2015 we have averaged about 70k round 1.

Exactly right. We built up from poverty in our own way. No handouts.

We don't need to prove anything.
Get them to watch the 2017 preliminary final.

Oh no. Gawwy's talking up the Dees with that usual "Richmond's been the dominant side for last 5 years BUT....."

They were hoping for at least 70k.

When Gil announced that dees v dogs would be the first game he stated 80K, as soon as I heard that I thought what the? if they got 70K that would be great but 58K is terrible no matter how Brian "wowee" Taylor tries and spins it.

Dees get the 4 points so its winners are grinners but I would say if any other top 8 team played Melbourne tonight they would've won.

Dogs are not a pressure team and the dees easily transitioned out of the backline. The dogs too often butchered the ball and back in the hands of the dees.

Even on the TV you could see that Melbourne were setting up very well behind the ball, the slightest mis-kick, and Footscray had plenty of them, and they got the turnover. Every team will be trying to work out a way around their defence, and also copying it. Footscray had some success passing it across the ground but still damned hard.

Melbourne are very good, but more silverware or they really can't be compared to what we achieved.

The crowd was not impressive, I would actually question the 58,000 number, it looked more empty than that. Top deck of the Southern Stand was very empty and there were big gaps around the Footscray cheer squad (I could say something here . . . but I'm not going there).

Solid win by Melbourne, which is a very bad sign. If they came out of the blocks fast and hard I'd be looking at them petering out at some point, they look to be in building a season mode. To win the flag this year, Melbourne are a team you will have to get past.

Credit to them after disaster picks like Toopmass, Scully, Trengove, Morton, Watts
It's a massive list of duds.
Since 2012 onwards they seemed to have picked Gold.
While stupid clubs like stkilda missed our on Naughton, Bompmytelly and Ramankas

Yep, the AFL selling cheap tickets, and all the media doing their best to talk up a big crowd was all to no avail.
Going tonight would've been like the good old days turn up 20 mins before the bounce and be guarnteed to get in.
Gilligan has destroyed the joint

Article already in the Age with complaints from fans about queues for food and drink.
They’re obviously not used to going to a game with such a large crowd, I mean, at a half empty stadium
