Rio Olympics

The Opals were flirting with danger, continually giving away big leads. Too much reliance on Cambage (superstar).

Every four years, the Olympics remind me that tennis players are not the hottest female athletes. Sprinters are. I've loved Allyson Felix for years, and the line-ups for the 200m semis looked like a supermodel convention. Woof!

It's good to see that you focus on women's sport for all the "right" reasons... :-\

It is a perennial problem in Basketball. Having a dominant tall like Cambage gives them a huge advantage. After a while, most of the team ended up playing defence and doing not much else. they were just waiting for Cambage to get into position so they could give her the ball. She is basically unstoppable so it usually works. The problems were evident throughout their tournament right from the beginning. Every time Cambage was off the court, only Penny Taylor was capable of keeping the score ticking over. Every other player was in "just play your role" mode.

Eventually, someone was going to do this to them.

This is going to keep happening throughout her career until their coaches find a better way to share the load.
Don't think Penny Taylor scored in that game.

Normally like your work Skybeau but don't think there was much wrong with Spook's post. Thought it was on the money.

He even quoted the bit where I analysed the Opals loss. I called Cambage a superstar (and I don't find her attractive). Bizarre. Are we not allowed to find women attractive any more? Does finding women attractive preclude you from appreciating their sporting achievements? I am a Felix fan because I love her running as much as her face.

The 200m fields were ridiculously good-looking.

Elaine Thompson - beautiful.

Ivet Lalova-Collio - stunning.

Deajah Stevens - ridiculous.

I could go on.

The long jump field was pretty tasty too. ;D

Australia's Ella Nelson missed the 200m final by 0.01 seconds. Only 22, big future.

She did well. Female commentator mentioned she should have worn a thicker bra. Lucky a male didn't make the same comment. ;)

Oh wow. Now the women's 4x100m heats.

It's a smorgasbord of brilliant athletic talent. I don't even notice what they look like.

(Got Sir Mixalot in my head for some reason.)

It's great that they have triathlon. Gives a chance for people who aren't good enough at running, swimming or cycling to compete at the Olympics.

Well done for celebrating Liz's sporting talent. I'm not sure what the relevance is of her attractiveness to you though.

Sure, find them attractive, that's no issue.

I just find it awful that you (and others) in this thread can't celebrate sporting success of women without referring to their attractiveness to you. That's not what sport should be about.

Admittedly, for me this is probably touching on the events of this week, referring to that website where young and not so young boys are posting nudes of young girls without their consent, essentially treating young women as meat or objects. That's disgusting. And here we see a bunch of men posting pics of attractive sports stars (and saying who they'd like to bang...yes I know you crossed it out but why say it anyway). It's why such cultures are maintained.

Get real. I know truckloads of females who admire AFL players & athletes for more than their athletic abilities. It's human nature.

It is. Nothing wrong with admiring the human form.

I have a female friend. Keen cyclist. Went to Fed Sq to watch the start of the men's UCI world champs several years back. Took photos of 'around 100 arses'.
