Richmond vs Collingwood Rd 20 Gameday Thread

It was definately Swan who was grabing tufts of Deledio's hair from the back of his head and trying to pull it out on repeated attempts. Deledio was bent over being held in a kind of headlock by a Collingwood player. Recon you can lipread Swan yelling "hold him" to his mate while he goes about his low dog act. Hope there is a video report from that as it is there to see if they want to look.

There should be a few more reports from the melee if the AFL are serious but unlikely they will go after Collingwood so close to the finals.

Look I hope this doesn't sound sacriligeous.

This game left me with such a bad taste in my mouth that I actually felt compelled to put on the tape of Hawthorn and Adelaide (and I despise the Hawks) just because I needed to watch some real football.

The tail is wagging the dog bobby.

Tuck is rumoured to almost come to blows with Campbell, Cousins says something to the coach that sees him sit on the pine, players reported and undisciplined.

The footballers have stopped listening to those in charge and the team is in total disarray.

Rawlings won't be coach now of that I am sure and many of the coaching staff won't be there next year either but I can NEVER condone footballers (who are not in a leadership capacity) telling coaching staff where they should get off.

What sort of message does that send?

One wonders whether Newman confronting Wallet has triggered some of this behaviour.

Jade was right last week, the culture in this team stinks to high heaven even if he has had some small part to play in it.
This team needs to stop playing like millionaires, STFU and get their hands dirty. They are soft *smile*.

I largely blame Wallet for the current catastrophe but the players right now are being exposed as being as weak as p!ss.

I'm not surprised things have turned ugly. I listened to March trot out all the pleasant sounding little snippets today. Oh the search for a new coach is going very well, and they are pleased with this and pleased with that and look Benny Gale has come back to the club. Just for once I would like to hear some honesty from the people who run the club.

It's funny how different people see things differently.

I don't think that Cousins gave Jade a spray at all.

I reckon Cousins probably said something along the lines of:

"hey Jade, this one's done and dusted, I've busted my balls today but my Hammys are a little tight and we're getting smashed. Hows about I have a rest and we use the last quarter to give some of younger blokes some more exposure in the guts and they can try to execute some of that stuff I've been teaching them at training"

This bloke's got to explain how he deserved a 5 year contract and should be put to trial.

I can't believe how soft most of the media are on him.

Looks like that Too, although the Newman incident just brought it out into the public

Not going to go through all the players but what a joke today, i was there and just couldnt believe what i was seeing..

Lids easy our best and then daylight....

Nahas tried hard all day very happy with his game, ran the lines and hit targets

Newy battled as hard as he could and Morton did ok too...

On players who i thought were bad or terrible,

Mcmahon wasnt our worst but his skills are non existent, 7 out of 10 kicks didnt hit their target
Bowden not far beyond but as its his last game ill give him his due respect and make no further comment
Cuz has been fantastic all year but today just not one of his better days, definitely cut this champ some slack...

Jackson, where do i start 36 super coach points, that was being kind IMO he's decision making is bordring on zero
Tuck u know why u were sent packing to the 2's cause u are in the same boat as jackson terrible skills, how many times did u put players under the pump, it was pitiful today..
Cogs, 7 out of 9 kicks didnt hit their target today
Mcguane slipped over to much for my liking, hold ur feet son and he cant hit a target if his life depended on it
Thursty, who has been in fine form since returning also had a shocker
Brown, a bloody pretender, terrible one of our worst
Tamblings first 3 qtrs were a far cry from his last 10 games, he didnt chase or harrass or hit the packs hard a spectator....His last qtr though was all about chasing, applying pressure, marking, running and taking them on this shouldve been done from the getgo...at least he tried to salvage something.

The backline was poor but in a half defence to the backline the ball was coming in so fast not sure what couldve really been done to stop the landslide....

On a final note why do we persist with this rubbish kicking to a 50/50 contest when the opposition kick a point and we kick out, we turn it over all the time (meaning the opposition always win the ball back) and how many times did our players slip over today...
To many times we handballed a meter away from where it had to go and kicks not even reaching their target from 20 meters away....
I stayed to the end it was painful....:(

I think jades culture comment was pretty true to the mark when the players were elavingt he field with smile ontheir faces after such a cruddy showing
.The culture runs deep and we need a new broom to really scrub away at the culture that condones such awful efforts

Very disappointed by today's effort. The only thing that is stopping me going off my head is the Michael Jackson tickets I bought this morning (at a great price )

I'm sure MJ would give a better performance then the team today

What drives me crazy is the number of times players will give a lead, get 5-10 yards on their opponent and the tiger with the ball wont honour the lead, instead they look around, dazed and confused, then handpass or kick backwards, sideways or kick to a outnumbered contest leading to a turnover. Nahas made a number of excellent 30-50m leads today and not once did the slow thinking Tiger kick it too him...happens way to much for me.

That seems a regular every week.

200% right, a saw it time after time, the player takes off has 5 meters on his man the player with the ball doesnt honour the lead waits, props, does hand stands waits until all our players are manned up and then turns it over, and yes it happended all day...

Look it is very much a team mental thing. I saw Cousins get caught a number of times and handball directly to Collingwood players - exactly the same as Delideo and most others. We have no Team work, shepherds, blocks etc. When we had the ball most players were stationary upfield. Cousins is a legend of the game and to see him reduced to making the same mistakes as the other players shows me that most of our players would improve under a better Coaching/Training system.

It is not that difficult to turn around IF you have the right people and right systems in place.

That's because they know they cant hit the target. They need to be 30 metres in the clear.

Most of that is spot on. Too many times their were players spectating when they should have been applying a block, or shepherd or at least letting the opposition know they were around.

Too many times players jogging along the other way when a bit of hard running could have gone a long way to helping out a team mate. Seems they were starting to believe a bit of their own publicity about improving the defensive side of the game. Was non existent today

I really noticed with the crow last night how much bigger they are in the body than any of our players. Even their new combers have filled out more than most of our players who have been around 3-5 years. Especially in the chest and upper body. Made our blokes look like schoolboys

Its been the case re: body shape, for a very long time at Richmond.

The fitness and conditioning staff must be told to pack their bags as well at years end as well. The club needs to do all it can to find these people going around. Splash the cash if need be, this area is super important for our future going forward.

From a fitness perspective, the team rallied for a whole 10 minutes before they were out run by a stronger and fitter Collingwood.

Terrible effort all day.

But I gotta dips me lid to Jake King. He smacked Didak, off the ball. Copped some heat and gave away the free. There were three or four Collingwood blokes lines up to ping him off the mark. But he took off after Didak and laid a tackle. He wanted to get him again. Hurt him. And he took off full stick. Nothing half hearted. And had three or four jump all over him. He knew before he got the ball that he was going to get crunched and he took it on.

I don't think Jake King is the answer and I think he is just a AFL player but he has King Kong sizes gonads. And blokes don't want to play on him. He is gone for the rest of the year but his desire is something that needs to be pushed through the group.
