Richmond in Tassie?

Don't the Dawks play games in Tassie for money and have a sponsorship with Tassie as well?

So if we played games down there we wouldn't have to add 'Tasmania' to anything

Do you think the club is looking to play games at Hobart for peanuts? We'll be playing for money too, there will have to be some sort of advertising on our media polo and signage around Punt Road. The sponsors would expect some sort of bang for their buck wouldn't they?

I thought the amazing RFC blessing the south of the map of tassie would be payment enough :hihi

It is really simple if the Tassie government does not want us to play games in Hobart then we don't go.

Couple of issues on this Geoffry

Hawks get about $3.5m off memory for the 4 games at Tassie, which includes being the major sponsor for Hawthorn

With a relocation game paying around $400-500k these days, the sponsorship is probably around $1.5-1.9m per annum, which is therefore obviously the most significant part of the arrangement.

Secondly, if we were to go to Tassie, the govt would not be involved in the deal - they have already said this. The money would have to be coming (directly or indirectly) from Tassie Football and the Cricket Association

As such, we would be looking at around $400-500k a game, and thats it

The Tasmanian Government are a major sponsor of the Hawthorn football club, they are a jumper sponser as well as provide the funding for them to play at Launceston.
They have come out and said that they have no intention of offering more money to another club, however if the Bellreive oval want to put up the money to get an AFL club playing there, then that's up to them and it has nothing to do with the government.
