Richmond 2017 AFL Premiers

In 2017, it seemed like we had a latent anxiety about losing the unlosable games even if we were in front, so that drove us to keep attacking until the end.

Feels like we’re happy to defend our lead recently. Hope our 2017 mindset returns this week, it’s too stressful watching us save a lead.

It does seem like we lack a killer instinct like Geelong, when they win big they win big against the lower sides, we seem to coast, which is possibly to keep us from being spent the next week, but yes, I hate to see us try to save a lead rather than take it on and win.

A three point game when the stakes don't really matter doesn't worry me, it's when the stakes are high that I might have a heart attack.

Please help a Tiger out RFC, win big enough for me not to worry  ;D

Earlier in the season when the stakes were high we were blowing teams out of the water.

Last month we have virtually had top two sown up so to me it makes perfect sense that we take the foot of the pedal and have cruised a bit.

Last year we had to win to make the double chance.

I am looking forward to the tigers putting the foot to the floor

I hope so too but there's another school of thought "you don't flirt with form".

We won our games. Sure they were closer than we like but we won them. Even the GWS loss wasn't that bad. Had we kicked a fraction straighter it was ours.

We're not flirting with form. We're trying different things and seeing how they work.

We're fine.

31-40 tigers

First time in 35 games vs us we kept Adelaide goalless.

21/22 games in the second quarter Adelaide were dominant and they didn’t score a goal.

That is why I knew we had the game won at half time. we smashed their second quarter dominance. this must have been a clear plan going into the GF.

You shouldn't flirt with form but the difference this year is that we know what you have to do to win the flag

12 months ago we were all terrified that we'd lose another final and possibly go out in straight sets. This year it's knowing we are the best and expecting to win it again.

I think last year's finals run was more exciting. But this year will be more satisfying.

Oh no! 12 months on Tex knows how to beat Richmond!

“He pointed out two things - time in possession and winning the aerial battles.

“When we beat them here, we really attacked them and went straight at them,” he said.

“We controlled the air contest, and ‘JJ’ played made Rance accountable.

“That’s the way, I think, you can beat Richmond. You’ve just got to maintain possession, and obviously they’re a high pressure team, so if you can maintain possession, you can beat them.”

Then he went for a bold tip: Hawthorn to cause a qualifying final upset.

“I’m going to tip Hawthorn,” he said.

“Hawthorn can beat them.”

Ah Tex, the gift that keeps on giving.

Poor old Tex was in a “very minor drinking indiscretion” last month.
Club has swept it under the carpet

I just love this.

Exactly. We are 18 - 4 and have played the second half of the season with 3 - 5 players out per week and we still beat everyone.

The beauty is that we have virtually the same team in that won the flag and they know how they've been playing for the last 8 weeks but also know how they need to play to win finals footy.
