Re: Rich Vs Adel (March 11th, 2011) Visy Park with Teams

Glad to see Post named, we really need him to step up in the coming seasons.
Did Hicks play for Coburg last week in their practice match?
Old Princes park, Carltons ground Mr.P.

Re: Rich Vs Adel (March 11th, 2011) Visy Park with Teams

Has Nason played in any NAB cup or challenge games this year? Did I miss one? I notice that he is not in the squad this time either. He did play for Coburg in their practice match

He played quite a few games in the ones last year. Does anyone know of a reason why he hasn't been required for this year's NAB hgames? Is it just form or is there another reason?

Re: Rich Vs Adel (March 11th, 2011) Visy Park with Teams

Being the last practice game some conclusions about Round 1 are probably valid .

Clearly Nason and Webberley not considered front runners for Round 1 . Bit disappointed Taylor is not playing as well , looks unlikely he is in contention either.

Interestingly no Browne or Derrickx. You would suspect its the way they see the team with Graham as the ruckman and pinch hitting from Vickery and probably Post .

5 key backs picked . Thursfield , McGuane , Astbury , Rance and Grimes . Probably those positions still up for grabs

Will be interested to see who misses out from the squad . Not sure how many of the 29 picked can actually play ?

Post better be played over Miller.

Re: Rich Vs Adel (March 11th, 2011) Visy Park with Teams

I’m actually impressed with Dea, Grimes and Helbig, who all seem to be holding their positions at the moment. In all likelihood, they will all miss out in round 1 but they are looking to be thereabouts and will play sooner rather than later.

Some interesting young players are starting to emerge in the backline with Grimes, Rance and Astbury making a case for the key positions and Dea, Batchelor and Conca putting their hands up for the back flanks.

We could well be witnessing the early days of a more skilful and better balanced back six. No doubt Newman and Moore, at least, will hold down a defensive position for a bit longer but it won’t hurt to pump a few games into this group in 2011-12.

Good squad.... would like them to go with a side that has round one in mind. Perhaps:

Jake Batchelor Luke McGuane Alex Rance

Chris Newman David Astbury Brett Deledio

Reece Conca Dustin Martin Daniel Connors

Bachar Houli Jack Riewoldt Shane Edwards

Robin Nahas Tyrone Vickery Mitch Morton

R: Angus Graham, Trent Cotchin, Daniel Jackson

I: Nathan Foley, Shaun Grigg, Jayden Post

Tuck, Moore and Griffen I suppose. It's pretty much a full side
