Rhyan Mansell welcome to Tigerland

I'd take another year of Hugo over another year of Mansell.
I'm actually surprised at this, Scoop. You are big on kicking. Hugo can't kick, Mansell can. And he's harder, smarter and more composed. Other than size and speed, I'm not sure what Hugo has over Mansell.

Ross gets pilloried for his kicking on here, yet I think he is comfortably a better kick than Mansell.
Anyway you know what they say about opinions..

Hair.

But yes, Mansell is a good footballer- whether he is quite up to AFL level remains to be seen, but you can see at VFL level he can play. Hugo can run, maybe a switch will flick and he will correct the other issues, but more likely he wont and will be a good footballer at a level below VFL.

Hugo is 18 months younger. Size and speed count. And has a defined role. Speed kills in modern footy. We don't have it. Wouldn't be kicking out one of the few blokes who has it.

Mansell doesn't get it enough, 8 time a week at 180cm. It's just not enough. Doesn't have a role.

Agree. We need more speed not less. Mansell is average and can be covered by a kid. Doesn't provide any outstanding attributes.

Not sure Hugo will make it but I'd like to see the new coach utilise his speed and tank in a more effective manner. Perhaps the half forward role where imo the fastest and hardest runners should be played.

Had an ok year but I'm pretty surprised he was re-signed.
Agree with Harry he's a footsoldier at best.
We've had a good look, I'd have gone in a different direction.

I'm keen to see Hugo playing under Yze. One thing he can do is run in straight lines. We have plenty who can twist, hesitate and dance, but I'm over them. They are a forward's worst nightmare. Kicking may improve with experience and confidence.

two players left with one spot. I say give Hugo another year under the new coach.

How do you know there is 1 spot left?

What we know is we have 3 spots currently on our list.

From the start of last season we have seen the following turnover.

Out - Tarrant, Castagna, Cotchin, Riewoldt, Bradtke
In - Coulthard, Tresize

I think any more list decisions are likely to be made after the trade period as we don't have a lot of list spots open. We have 2 more OOC as you have mentioned (Hugo and Biggie) and a couple of players linked to trades, but we've also been linked to other trades in. Reckon both Hugo and Biggie will be waiting for a couple of weeks before they find out whats happening next year.

I just don't see what Mansell consistently brings to the team. Cameos don't cut it for me and he is just a journeyman VFL player that fills a hole in AFL when needed. IMO, lucky to get a new contract. He is taking up a spot on the list when a more skilled player would be of better use
