Rhyan Mansell welcome to Tigerland

What doesn't make sense to me is Mansell could end up with the same (possibly more) than Degooy who ran past the ball, left ground and kod his player. Mansell was running to the ball, so in play.

Mansell and Aish hit a loose ball at the same time. There was no bump other than that Mansell braced. Who touched the ball?

Nobody ran past the ball. This is a loose ball contest. Not a bump.

Spot on Jack. The AFL would rather Mansell not protect himself and run straight into Aish, have them both knocked out and call it an accident than have one player try to do the right thing. If Aish braces then it's shoulder on shoulder.

Both players do the right thing fine, both players do the wrong thing fine. But one player does the right thing, he's the bad guy.

How long will play stop for while they while they tie the ribbons on again? What happens if the ribbon rips into two? Do you get a free if you find a ribbon lying on the turf and show it to the umpire?

I don’t think you have thought this through.
No need for ribbons. Just use sensors like in laser tag. They just reset once they go off. The other bonus is you can set them so they have proximity alerts so players don’t need to get too close and run the risk of accidentally touching their opponent. The other risk with ribbons is they can fall off and a player might trip over them. All sorts of workplace legal minefields there

Both players were running flat out to get to the loose ball, Aish got there marginally before Mansell, who the braced for contact (as he should have). It was an in game contest that happens all the time.

If Christian can't see that is that case then he's obviously not the right person to hold the position as MRO.

Seriously you expect me to give out all the details on here? I’m out to sell all the details to the highest bidder
What I can say is that if the ribbon is ripped in two it’s a 50m penalty If ribbon is ripped in 3 or more pieces it’s straight to the tribunal charge ribbon abuse

Least controversial!!
FMD I’m surprised they didn’t throw in best officiated game of the year for good measure.

Richmond’s Rhyan Mansell will defend his bump on Fremantle’s James Aish (from 5:30pm).

RHYAN MANSELL HEARING (from 5:30pm EST)

Perhaps the least controversial of Tuesday’s three hearings, Tiger Mansell is facing a hefty suspension after concussing Fremantle’s James Aish on Saturday night.

“I think it’s cut and dry in terms of the report, he turned sideways against James Aish,” Jon Ralph said on Fox Footy’s On the Couch.

“He was a step late, maybe half a step late, but it was clear contact from shoulder to head ... he’ll try and potentially downgrade it from three weeks to two.”

But even Dockers coach Justin Longmuir sympathised with Mansell given the split-second nature of the collision.

“We’re asking a lot of our players and I really feel for Mansell on this occasion, because I think largely he’s going 100 miles an hour trying to contest the footy,” Longmuir said on Fox Footy’s AFL 360.

“And this incident was after we got within seven points and kicked the first two of the last quarter, and the game was well and truly on the line, so both players have got intent until the last second.

“Mansell turns his body at the last second and collects Aishy high, so I feel for the split-second decisions that players have to make in modern-day football.”

Still think he will be exonerated. At the time he discovered Aish the collision was inevitable. If he turned it was to protect himself. Just because a concussion followed does not automatically mean he was careless, which is an essential finding the tribunal would have to make before he can be found guilty.
His behaviour immediately after wasn’t an act. He was as shocked and concerned as
you would expect from someone who found himself in such a position.

It was an accident and not all of them can be blamed on those immediately involved.

If he gets rubbed out....
Reckon we should take it to appeal as Melbourne did with Van Rooyn for the good of the game.

It's a rolled gold fckn joke the way Ralph spews out his so called expert assessments!

What a disgraceful decision. But then again I’m not totally surprised because they also threw the book at Broady earlier in the season. We must at least appeal.

So how is Mansell expected to attack his next contest for the ball, with fear of getting suspended I’d imagine

Jon Ralph, Don't ever call yourself a Tiger supporter again.

You pot our great club & players constantly.

Please do us a favour & support some other club, I'm tired of your hypocrisy.

So really what they're saying is the only way Mansell could have avoided suspension was to slow down, give up the 50/50 contest for the ball. Split second earlier Mansell wins the ball, Aish still gets his silly headband knocked off his head and it's all ok.

It really has become a joke. Every suspension now is for a bump or a tackle, the very skills that have made AFL footy what it is.

Ban him from having contact with any of our players, and if he actually has a membership revoke it.
