Retire / Trade / Delist

12 and 13 games in his last 2 seasons. Lots of soft tissue injuries too. Think Deledio. It isn"t going to get better. I don't think we can afford to carry older players. Cotchin, Edwards, Houli, do we keep them all on the list despite being a lot more injury prone for the sake of culture? You'd expect players are fully aware of the conundrum and wouldn't look at it as an attack on the culture.
About time the 5- 8 year players were seen as "culture leaders" if that is a list mgt criteria.

Bachar should have pulled up stumps last year, one year too long. We could have kept Lego, not that he would have made a difference this year.
I think Cotch is done with his hammies, but if he plays another year plonk him forward and get him to practice his goal kicking. Can take a mark.
Sheds, I think he’s been unlucky this year, his injuries have not been soft tissue ones if I recall correctly and whilst his form has been *smile* upon his return I’d say it’s just the combo of pre-season and interruptions because of injuries. I think he has 2 good years left in him still. Was playing ok until his injuries.

This will be a difficult period, may need to make the hard calls now across the board. if we won those close matches, it would be a different conversation.

Houli and Astbury retire this year. (33 and 30)

Cotch and Jack next year. (32 and 33)

Edwards, Grimes and Lambert the year after. (34, 32 and 32)

Leaving us with Dusty (32), Prestia (31), Lynch (31), Broad (30) in 2024.

We need to stagger the retirements something like this. You dont want them all finishing at once.

I tend to agree on Mansell. They won’t delist or trade him, but he is very replaceable or upgradeable. Lot of the Steve Morrises about him.
I thought the exact same comparison, nothing wrong as a depth player but need to be aiming higher going forward.

Unless you guys know something I don’t I would give Astbury another contract. We need him on the park to take the big boys. Garth and Miller to be both delisted.

Houli needs to retire. We have Short, Rioli, Baker and Mansell who can all play his role.

Don't want to be in a situation where we force legends of the club to retire.

Injury prone aside, the only oldie I want us to keep is Shank as he will reach 300 games next season and become the 2nd highest under KB. Hope he plays to late 30s.

No way Bachar should play on next year.
Been wonderful but his time is up.
His old man injuries co-incide with club having a plethora of players who can take his spot.

Seeing Cotch stuggle to run, and hit a target either by hand or foot v Giants, only reinforced my feeling he may pull the pin at seasons end.
Despite having a year to run on his contract, he should be thinking long and hard about going around again.
Sure, an extended break would help, but he looks done to me.
Can't run, and absolutely butchering the ball to the point you really don't want it in his hands.
Has been a absolute club legend and for that reason I want him to finish up this year rather than go on in 2022 and become a shadow of his former self.

Caddy, Egg, Naish, Astbury, Parker, Garthwaite, Nyuon, Miller all in the spotlight.
The fact that Garthwaite, Nyuon and Miller are our NextGen key backs is cause for serious concern and obviously a key back should be a draft priority.
A superstar key forward would be good too.

Bullseye, MB78. :clap2

Not sure why DTLD is in the gun. (insert head scratch emoji here, didn't we have one?)

He has played 16 games this year and been pretty serviceable.
We need him to go around again next year.
If he needs managing let's do it.
He can play roughly same amount of games next year with a few 'managed' spells here and there.
Maybe avoid some plane trips.
We don't know what shape Boobsy and ArkMan will be in post their injuries, so we will need DTLD IMHO.
(as we have seen with Ivan's cousin Ivan there is no certainty when returning from serious injuries)
He can be a backline coach a-la Hodge and teach any new draftee defenders that come in.
Then next year with Prem medal no. 4 he can retire to the back paddock. Job done.

Seems to be struggling to me. Hasn't really hit his straps since coming back from injury..

.
It's pretty obvious to me why he's being discussed. He is not yet contracted for 2022. He's been injury prone and been playing injured. He's 30 years old. He himself may be weighing it up.

No chance. Premiership window is over.

I reckon Shedda will be back. Had a bad run with injuries and, from memory, takes a few games to hit his straps. At least 2 more years from the champ.

Clubs needs to make the hard calls regardless or we will suffer club champions or not.

Our problem is we have nothing to fill the gorilla position as yet. In the club we have Garth who has been found wanting, Miller still untried as he can't get a game if his life depended on it and Biggie nowhere ready so maybe Dave will have to be persuaded go round one more time. Been an incredible servant to out club
