This constant niggle over Conce v heppell is pointless and irritating. I know people have to scratch around for things to talk about, but both look like good players to me. We have Conca. I Like him. I reckon he's got class.

Reece Conca
I see him as a player that is similar to Marc Murphy. He's got the same sort of patterns of running as Marc and uses the ball really well.

My only argument with the whole Conca v Heppell/Caddy thing is that our recruiters thought so much of him that they overlooked 2 homegrown boys which says they think he was better than even against them, I'm not so sure but I hope to be proven wrong.

Thing I like about the Conca pick is we stuck to our guns on criteria. I'd say the recruiters wouldn't have overlooked the others but Conca just pipped them overall. I'm guessing that recruiting has become more of a solid team building exercise than a total search for the stars. Todd maybe the exception there.

I see that to a point. But it’s a big call. Marc Murphy is the most underrated footballer in the AFL. A midfielder who runs all day, wins his own ball, smart with it and kicks goals.

If Conca ends up %80 of the footballer that Murphy is then we will have added a elite cog to the midfield. Don't forget it took Marc Murphy four years to become the player he is today. Two or three full preseasons needed to be a full time mid in the modern game.

Murphy was also a brilliant junior, far superior to Reece

Conquer did not take footy up until late so his ceiling is high.

This kid will be a gem and trust me the club are very pleased to have him.

Will be good to see him in the midfield with more fitness behind him. IMO it was
Clear from early on that's where he belongs. Not at the level of Murphy who I agree is very underrated, but with dusty, cotch and hopefully lids around him he will be a good midfielder.

Putting the comparison aside, I'm perplexed by people thinking Murphy is underrated. From where I sit he's universally acknowledged as a bona-fide star midfielder. There was even talk of 'is he better than Judd?'. How much better could he be rated?

yep good comparison. plays the game similar to murphy in terms of constantly running to link up and support, and keeps running to make another option after disposing.

Agree. On seeing the video the RFC put up of him, Murphy was the player i thought he resembled also in the way he moved. If given the proper chance i think he will become a gun mid for us.

Probably a poor choice of words by Dimma because I suspect he is talking about the style of player Conca is rather than him saying Conca will be as good as Murphy.

He could have expressed it better.

Agreed in fact I actually think because of those comparisons that Murphy is overrated, his disposal is not that great.

Agree, that's exactly what he meant.
If Dimma had just mentioned the similarities of running patterns that would have been better put.
Dimma should have known PRE posters would pore over his every word like statements from the Politburo in the cold war days.
