Reece Conca - so long and thanks for all the fish

Re: Reece "The Centurion" Conca

I think they are usually worse, but I'm no expert. Any sign of a prognosis yet?

dont want to be a downer, but I understand ankle dislocations can be worse than breaks?

can really mess up all the ligs and tendons.

be interested to hear from our PRE medicos?

Either way, still plenty of time for Reecy to get the premiership medal he deserves.

RICHMOND’s Reece Conca has dodged a bullet and will not require surgery on a badly dislocated ankle after being stretchered from the ground on Thursday night.

There were fears Conca, who was celebrating his 100th game, would miss as many as 12 months due to a graphic broken lower leg, but Fox Footy understands scans have returned a positive diagnosis for the 25-year-old.

Richmond is expected to confirm the length of Conca’s absence soon, but it will be significantly shorter than what many thought on Thursday night.

thanks wayno :fing32

what a story it would be if he could get back for September.

hard to imagine. he'd have to do a mini-mini preseason in 5-6 weeks to be a chance for Sept youde reckon?

still, hope springs a disco inferno

All in all a great result (compared to worst case), hopefully he is back sooner than later :clap

Re: Reece "The Centurion" Conca

Great news for Reece and the club! Let’s hope he’s back firing soon

Re: Reece "The Centurion" Conca

GF is in 13 weeks.

Should be ready to run out with the reigning premiers round 1 2019 though, which is way better than I thought.

I'd privately grieved a lost career

Re: Reece "The Centurion" Conca

Injuries have cost the poor bugger three seasons of footy. He was the same draft as Gaff who has played 169 games, Conc's has played 100. If ever anyone deserves a change of luck it's Reece.

Great to hear it’s not as bad as first feared.

Heard a whisper may only be 2-3 weeks

Surely not! I saw his foot dangling off his leg!

Re: Reece "The Centurion" Conca

Richmond midfielder, Reece Conca has avoided serious injury after scans cleared the 25-year-old of major structural damage to his left ankle.

Conca suffered a dislocated ankle in the opening quarter of Richmond’s 26-point win over Sydney at Etihad Stadium last night.

The injury does not require any surgery, and the Club is confident that he will be available for selection before the end of the home-and-away season.

“We’re so pleased for Reece that the outcome is as good as we could have hoped for,” Richmond’s General Manager – Football, Neil Balme said.

“The plan is for Reece to wear a moonboot for two weeks, he will then be able to resume a conditioning program, and we expect him to be available later this season,” he said.
