What role is he best suited could he become a bulking midfielder don't think he has the class? What sort of kick for goal is he? Maybe he could become our Aaron Hamill just less injury prone or keep him to settle as a key backman?

A number of options where Alex can develop but one thing he should get out of his game is going to ground when trying to shrug off a tackle.

39 kicks (ave 4.3) and 96 h/b's (ave 10.7) is way out of whack. From what I've seen, he's gotta start making better decisions in terms of disposal.

He's been playing as an attacking defender but he has average disposal at best, really needs to work on it. Don't like how we're developing him at the moment. Should be playing at CHB on a taller opponents as it's probably his future position. See him in a Bock mold which means he needs to start doing some more body to body work in match situations, haven't seen him take a contested mark yet either. Playing him on NDS in the middle at this early stage is just throwing him to the wolves. Got destroyed. Will be a gun though if we develop him correctly.

Let's all relax for a moment. Rance has stated himself a desire to play midfield/wing in a Richo/Kouta role. If he has the tank to do it, he can do far worse than the "education" he got being towelled up by Goddard on the weekend. All part of the learning process I say. Back to school, Alex.

Chooooo!

Let's just remember he's still only a boy. He'll be a terriffic player in time with development & belief that you belong at the highest level.

Supporters have to realise how hard it is for young players in their first 2 seasons to adapt and feel as though they belong in the esteemed company that all of a sudden is bestowed on them.

I have no doubt Rance will become the hard, gut running defender that we're hoping for.

He is a poor kick and that is why he handballs all the time.
Has time but why do we keep drafting kids who can not kick? ???

Everyone was truly rapt and suprised Rance fell through to us in the 2008 draft. Anyone still so suprised ? Love the kids endeavour and his attitude, courage and toughness cant be questioned. As it stands he looks like a taller more unco version of Jake King.

More of a running style and general look thing.

As long as he gets the job done, I don't care how it looks. At this stage Rance is showing a fair bit of promise IMO

Thios was the same draft where the potential Top 10 pick, Gourdis, dropped to us in the PSD right ?

I agree.

Gee wiz comparing any aspect of Jake King to Alex Rance is ridiculous.

He is a 19 year old kid, who no doubt needs to work on his kicking but stands 192cm and is playing a whole variety of positions including marking the in form midfielder Dal Santo.....

Good post.

From what I have seen, he easily gets outmarked one on one and I noticed on Sunday Goddard gave him a clean pair of heals. I can't question his endevour, he has a long way to go to convince me he was a great pick up at 18 in the draft.

Geez he's a couragoues player both in putting his head over it & gut running.

But ILO he has a flawed kicking technique that is going to be very hard to rectify.
