Rance and White

I am not even going to bother with White he is what he is a zippy bloke with no left foot and a trier for the club.

Onto Rance, I am really happy with his current output because its almost a reversal of the usual. He is playing forward to learn how to play back it would almost seem. Rance got outmarked once last night and in pack situations where it was 3 on 1 he was able to get the ball to ground.

Second quarter it was him getting it to ground for Cotch to get on it and kick on the full unfortunately.

Last quarter when Nahas got the horrible on the full Rance flicked the ball on to the advantage of Nahas Nas and Webbers it was really quite clever. His kicking is looking ok he also is quite accomplished when the ball is on the ground. He is getting better I still believe he may well be our KPB that specialises in playing infront not spoiling from the back.

So the people abjectly knocking these two and others don't want to respect Hardwick's request to judge them on what the new coaches can do with those on the list after those before them failed with them.

Development was an RFC weakness, the new coaches are wanting to make it a strength - they at least deserve the season to see what development is capable. Blockout glasses are way worse than Rose coloured's ;D

Rance is actually getting involved. I always thought defensive forward was his only realistic option with his skill set. He works for us sometimes based on chaos theory. Doesn't kow what he is doing out there and seems to confuse defenders sometimes. Poor old Fletch gave away a front on free to Rance obviously not ever seen Rance try to take an overhead mark.

I'd prefer him out but he appears to be doing what the coaches have asked and on that basis will get more game time. His habit of always handballing is better suited to a defensive forward position.

Carefull Lambshanks, you're starting to go soft on Rancealot. If Dimma gets to spend a whole season putting work into the young fella there's still a chance he may become a player for us and we'll have to start praising him.
One of the few joys of this season is watching the slow but steady improvement in so many of our younger players as they get more games and better understanding of the game structure Dimma want's. The other enjoyable bit is their refusal to roll over and cop a belting during games. Was pleasing to see that even though the Bummers jumped us and looked ready to work some serious destruction the boys dug deep, stopped their uncontested run and fought as best they could all game long. Still a hell of a long way to go but for now I'm happy to see the team refuse to stop competing and keep pushing the contest.

Kicked a very nice goal TM (fluke though ;D)

I am very fair. The's kid's trying....very trying in fact. I doubt he'll end up much good and like I said I wouldn't pick him but if he does what the coach asks he'll get another game.

Hardwick will never get rid of Rance because he can see a animal in the making and so can i , and history shows every great team has one animal in there. We have a young one ready to give his life for the club and some of you guys want him gone based on a few mistakes made by a boy playing his 22nd game of AFL................Dont forget that in one of those short 22 games this kid of 19 put his life on the line for the club and in my experience that sort of courage in a young player can take the club a long way because when we get better and he gets smarter with games and maturity he is the one thats going to smash the walls down on the field. Mark my words when this kid hits around 100 games at the age of 23 or 24 every club is going to want him. Voss one of the hardest footballers ever wanted him big time at the lions. I cant believe how many people here give up on young players so easily. 100 games should be given to most young footballers like him.........................I just love him and the best thing about him is he is good natured young kid who loves the club and would die for it...................I just love him and Hardwick and Voss know what they see.........he is in my 10 must keep players and all of you will see what i mean in the next 3 yrs....................

Not our worst by far 2nite either of these players.

My Worst for us was Shane Edwardes. Turn over king, skinny little runt, never seen some1's head wobble soo much when he runs off the ground. A grade list clogger!
He kept Stanton completely out of the game for 3 quarters.

Maybe Rance has poor eyesight. Could be the reason for the dropped marks. Should get his eyes checked.

He didn't take a mark all night.

Yes I thought it was funny how Fab 4 was happy with Rance's progress as a forward because he was not "outmarked"....baby steps I suppose

Mentioned it on another thread how Rance looks like a helicopter gone wrong when he attempts a mark overhead. Its like his hands are full of helium and get blown around in the wind. Its the weirdest thing.

I'll be amazed if Rance can become even a serviceable AFL player. He's tall and atheltic and that's about it. He can't mark the ball overhead; has no footy smarts and just doesn't get the ball often enough. We may have to cut the losses with this player in the not too distant future.

I've been defending this bloke on account of his age and experience, but you've just summed up what I'm now thinking.

You were right the 1st time, I'd prefer him out too.
