R1 team v Carlton (2020).

I can't see why not. If 60 year old teachers can be squeezed in a tiny building with a thousand germ factories, surely 40 elite athletes practising the highest standards of hygiene can run around outside for a couple of hours.

Very true, but I'm thinking the season will be a write-off pretty soon.

I suppose they are hoping that they can start and salvage something later. I'm a pessimist.

Every game we play is a game I haven't missed Dusty in his prime.

I cant see how it gets through to be honest, with everythig else about to be shutdown in the near future as is going on overseas.

Just wait for the cold and flu season to hit!! The panic and hystreria over this thing will go Nuclear, we havnt really even started with it all yet, remember the Northern hemisphere is coming out of winter and their cold and flu season with it we are heading into ours.

I just cant see the AFL making it through unscathed and that is what is tempering my eagerness to have the season back.

If one or two players get it their teams will need to be quarantined and that means they aint playing, so the likelihood is that the AFL comission is pissing into the wind.

They might get througha few rounds but once the cold weather hits I dont foresee it all progressing too much further.

Once the cold and flu numbers spike and everyone thinks they have Corona I think the hammer will likely fall.
I’m sure club medics can tell the difference as well you know.

with covid 19 it’s all about prevention.
You can’t catch it if you don’t contact it.

I hear you brother, but that's not an epidemiological argument

I just reckon seeing our federal government has decided to go down the do - nothing - and - hope - for - the - best route, there are far higher risk jobs still happening at the moment than a game of AFL.

In terms of numbers, you can be pretty certain this spread is not going to pick up because of footy.

And even if we don't get a season, we'll get some footy.

Agree with that 100% - I just think that we'll have a player test positive, or we'll lock-down events anyway. Either way the season ends and probably won't start again this year.

And even if we don't get a season, we'll get some footy.

Yes that's true... I don't know how I'm going to feel about it though...

Agree entirely that we probably won't have a grand final.

But there is a good chance we're top of the ladder when it's called off.

Believe me, I'll be claiming back to back.

And remember, we had thirty odd years of enjoying the footy for every game we won, without worrying about grand finals.

All infectious disease is about prevention, same premise applies for all.

If players get it the club will most likely be quarantined like anyone else its federal and state law that has been enacted.

Any AFL player with flu like symptoms and fever will be Covid positive until proven otherwise, and that's where the challenges will come in for the AFL.

The AFL is just rolling the dice to see how far they can kick their can down the road.

this times 1000. Not having footy was depressing enough, but not having footy while we are the best team with the best player, in his prime, looking better and more focused than ever, who is an all-time great icon and a spectacular joy to watch and loved by all, that is testing my will to live.

have Made the long drive to Melbourne. 14 hours even though have known that my tickets for the game are no good. Are regular posters going to a pub in east Melbourne or Richmond to watch the game. If that is allowed If so would like to head there as well

That's my assumption, could be wrong.

So what is the chances a player, coach, official, admin, cleaner would get the virus and pass it through a club?
My guess. About 99.99 percent of happening.

Good effort Roar hope the drive was worth it and you had a good time

I doubt the seasonal flu will be anywhere near as severe this year. Everyone hand washing, isolating, distancing, and then travel bans and there will be record uptake of the flu vaccine.

Yep, I'm sure CSL are making more flu vaccine than they ever have before. I generally take up the offer at work and definitely will this year. No point not getting the jab.

Just a little look at our leftovers from tomorrow’s team.

Medium runners /mids
2 x premiership players
Mcintosh & houli
And Ross

that’s pretty good back up!

Key or ruck size
generation next!
Garthwaite Balta chol CJ

again it’s good back up.
I hope they to play some footy.

4 more mids /runners
if we have injuries or health problems
Eggs Naish Markov Higgins.

some talent there that needs a little luck.

finally this collection who haven’t played at the top level.

Miller Aarts Coll-Dawkins English turner
Nyuon Dow Cumberland Martyn Ralphsmith

I’m not relying on that top line at all.
We’ll have to see what happens with them.

Exactly. And one player gets it, the others should self-isolate. So they can't play. So season over.
