R1 team v Carlton (2020).

Yep, I'm sure CSL are making more flu vaccine than they ever have before. I generally take up the offer at work and definitely will this year. No point not getting the jab.

DS

Worth getting the flu jab as you could get both flu and COVID at the same time. This would make your prognosis worse.

Exactly. And one player gets it, the others should self-isolate. So they can't play. So season over.
It’s not AIDS or small pox or what not.
corona virus if it doesn’t turn into pneumonia is something you can recover from.

the problem To manage is :

1). avoiding it in the first place

2). early identification and isolation to avoid spreading it.

The point that came out of last nights announcement for me was when Eddie said it was about getting through X amount of games, not rounds and no proper scheduling, they have 40 weeks to do so..

not saying they will finish season but I can see their game plan, healthy clubbs could play 3 games within 10~14 days potentiall, right now as others have said going into winter it looks unlikely but I’m honestly ( just my opinion) happy they are trying.

cant wait to see the boys tonight, Go Tigers!

By playing it's just delaying the inevitable of not playing. I think they want to play as much as they can before having to stop. Even if we don't have a proper season or premier they just need to put some games on to get some sort of revenue.

Probably due to the fact we can’t be there, but geez this feels like the round 1 a few years back where we had to play the Suns , just doesn’t seem like the season should be starting
I was there and we *smile* lost ..................... to the Suns !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because the tv rights aren’t affected, in fact they might sell more subscriptions to Foxtel.

the AFL Just have to recoup the gate from away supporters and subtract from that the wages from the security guys, cleaners, police fees, contracts to food and drink suppliers and so on.

you’d reckon the afl insurance fees are reduced because they have no crowds to be liable for.

Two rucks worked well for us in the finals. Wondering whether we need two now that there will 16 + minute quarters.

Not Round 1 though - we’ve played Carl in Rd 1 since before GC Suns existed
Do you mean the game in Cairns when they beat us - might have been the first time we played them.

Gill answered this already. They will have a 14 days shutdown. I assume then they will reassess, ie. testing in said club for players who tested positive to ensure it has been beaten. If so and no other players test positive, then they will restart the season. It won't be a guaranteed season shutdown if it happens.

This is why they are trying to get as many games in as possible early doors, as shutdowns are inevitable, but they hope to play again soon after the period of shutdown.

Thanks Posh, wasn't aware of that detail.

Leaving aside the fact that Gil is in obvious denial, it might work if you get one positive but if you get more? Rolling 14 day stoppages. At some point players and their families will pull the pin I reckon.

with no VFL, we need to be careful with team selection and rotate if we continue to play over the coming weeks. I would play Ross and McIntosh next week, plus maybe 1-2 more to ensure they are match fit.

Is that the game when Dusty got put in a headlock in the forward line late in the game, and could have put us in front, no call from the umps, then it went down to the Suns forward line where GAblett got a very soft free (if it was there at all) and put the game beyond our reach?
