We’re falling behind where our facilities are concerned. Sydney, Carlton and Brisbane have all just opened up their new state of the art facilities at costs between $50m to $70m. They all look amazing and make ours look second rate. The Dogs will have theirs up and running in 2024.

Meanwhile we have stalled. We’ve been going around in circles on this for years.

Is there some high powered legal people and/or benefactors or people with inside relationships - anyone - who can help push this through because it’s incredibly frustrating for the overwhelming amount of members who support it.

Gotta get moving.

In Peggy's last 'From The President' it looks as though the tender process won't be complete until at least mid year so can't see a start until at least the end of next year

We have also been asked to provide an update on the Punt Road Oval redevelopment.

Pleasingly, we have now been issued a planning permit to allow us to proceed with the development of this business critical infrastructure.

Design is complete and the project has been put out to tender. We expect that process to be finalised in the second quarter next year.

We continue to build on the generous support we have received from the Federal and State governments to fund the project.

We have had a number of very generous donations and the Club has also committed to investing some of its cash reserves into the project. The final Club contribution will be dependent on fundraising and the total cost.

I have heard that Carlton’s are amazing, best in class by a long way.

We definitely need to keep up the pace with at least the Melbourne clubs.

Reading John O'Rourke's first major public interview in The Age today:

Said he hopes building commences this year but with all our Blockbuster games, (except for Carlton), being away games we may struggle to make a profit.

Shows we are going to have to delve deeply into our cash reserves to come anywhere near raising the funds.

Also he talks about a $90 Million dollar redevelopment, 3 months ago it was $76 million in November 2021 it was slatedas $65 million

Going off some domestic builds,1 off's i'd day 20-30% price increase since 2021 about standard. Product costs and availability has returned closer to pre pandemic prices but of course builders/construction companies are happy to make the extra profit until inflation catches up.

Yep the salary cap hasn't increased since pre-covid and the soft cap is still well below pre-covid levels, but as you say, those piggies need to get their snouts filled, because we are all here to watch them, nothing about the footy or the coaching etc, all about the execs.

I am neither a do gooder or a tree hugger but I am supporting any group who wants to save this building
I am a 61yo who did not get to watch any VFL at this ground ( too young ) but it means a lot to me, the family and to many in the wider community
I wish more people would go and watch the film on at the moment called Lost Melbourne - it is about the wanton destruction of a lot of Melbournes beautiful and not so beautiful old buildings in the 50s to 70s before people finally realised what a terribe thing t hat was
Once something is gone it is gone
I felt differently aged 20 to what I feel now
I appreciate the history of people and places
The stand is not beautiful, it is not a good example of an edwardian stand , it used to be called something else - none of that is relevant
I hope the club is at least forced to look at other options to incorporate it
I also do not believe this idea the club would be forced to move away entirely - simply wont happen and if it did watch some other club ie melbourne or collingwood swoop in and take it over
