Preseason 2023 - The other games

*Collingwood look ordinary.
*Hawthorn are light years from ever seeing September again. Just relying on kids especially when they arent any good.
They let Gunstan & Omeara walk but they bring in the dud from port.
*Brisbane have gone all in, there's none left to pick up,
*Geelong are on holidays away from the dughole.
*Port are preparing for Hinkley's sacking.
*Freo are just *smile*. They might make 8 but will be a bye in September. Some king duds.
If we had more tall defender, we would win this year's flag by 10 goals..

Come on mann
The GF against Essendon in 94, Was our biggest game in 12 yrs and the final against Port was far behind.
74k in the ground and 15k locked out.
We were shiit but there has always been the support.
We got our pants pulled down badly that night.

Another false dawn ......... :))

93 Fosters Cup Final, 75K and lucky enough to get in the top, top deck of that VFL Members Stand, they opened the stand up to get as many in as possible and go up to the top deck, lol :))

We tried that night but they were the Baby Bombers man, U could see it from then I reckon they were going to do something that year.

Here's a small two minute news link -

No we didn't.
In the 93 fosters cup GF we played really well. I remember turning up, 2hrs before the game and the ground was packed. We looked and played ok. But then round 1 came around and Modra kicked 11 and Adelaide beat us by 70+.
Essendon went on and won the flag. I was devastated in 93.
And in 2002 or 03 against Port We were in the game all night but couldn't get closer then 10 something points.
Once again Port went on to playing finals while our season ended in may.

Ashcroft and McKenzie into the Fantasy footy Teams Redders?
Well, if you had to pick rookies, they’d be two you’d be looking at. I think Hollands and Hewett will get games and rack up possessions at some stage during the year.

Nah. my 'Brisbane trying to get on their board because he's a flog' mate is though :mhihi
He daily feeds me with what's going on up there :D
Can’t you put him on “Block Caller” ? I did that with Jinxley. Fantastic.

1990 was a shocking draft, we didn't miss much and neither did anyone else!!
Best players I can see after him Spider Burton at 36 and the Daff at 49 :eyes

The draft wasn't the draft we now know back then. Clubs still had zones and under-19 teams. A lot of blokes got to clubs that way.

Always been the environment outside the top 20-30 picks as well.

Richmond in that era, Melbourne until recently, Carltoon and Essendumb from today U could give them all the top picks you wanted, but they were always destined to fail because of the club structure, coaches, admin, facilities, etc.

Get that right you might go somewhere.

Implant Benny Gale's name here :eyes

Yeah but if a kid was in a club's zone back then they were usually never available in the draft because they'd sign with the club at 16. Justin Leppitsch was a notable exception and that was around the time it started changing. He could have signed with Hawthorn as a zone player but chose to go into the draft.

Hawthorn were kissed on the d with their zones, whereas a club like Melbourne were f*d in the a.
