Premiership Trivia

Im loving how we have re-writen a lot of the crap stats/records this year. Brownlows, finals, AAs, geelong lol.
Graham is now the equal 6th inexperienced premiership player with only 5 games!

The kid's played more finals than Home & Away games. Living the dream

Adding three premiership players to the team in Broad (R17), Townsend and Graham (R22) has never previously been done so late in the season. Hawthorn for example did not introduce a premiership player to the team after Round 7 in any of their threepeat years.

Collingwood did something similar back in 1958, adding three players in Rounds 16-18 (in an 18-round season) who went on to play in their upset GF win over Melbourne.

Is this the first time we have had 22 premiership players on our list? The closest I think we would have been close would be maybe around 1974-75?

Going by players who played senior games rather than 'list':

1975 - 23
1974 - 26
1973 - 23
1969 - 25

We had 21 back in 1921.

Record is 27 for Hawthorn 1991, Adelaide 1998 and Brisbane 2003.

22nd premiership team with all players under 30. Richmond has 5 of the 22 (1932,67,69,74,2017).

Grigg at 29y164d was the oldest player. Last premiership team with a younger oldest player was Essendon 1984.

this thread seems a good place for all the trivia questions and achievements there will be of our 2017 premiership.
eg first team with no GF experienced player
first team from 13th last year, to Premiers next year etc.

id think the list would be long

How does our average age compare to the premiership teams of the past 20 years?

Collingwood 2010 is an anomaly as Malthouse phased out older players approaching finals - very unusual for a premiership team.

4. Played in front of 90,000+ people 3 games in a row. Has this happened before?

8. Played in front of over 1.2 million spectators this year, including finals. What is the record? Had the highest Home & Away average attendances.

12. 6 players in the AFL premiership side came from other clubs. What is the record?

13. Premiership team included 4 players playing in their first year for the club. Graham, debut AFL season (yet to taste defeat). Nankervis, Caddy and Prestia the others. Is this a record for a premiership team (ie, most ever players playing in their first year for a club in a premiership team from another club?)

A few questions from another thread. Anyone know the answers?

Number 4 has happened a lot I would think.
In the 1969 finals, we played in front of 100,000+ three times in a row.
As did Cartoon in 1970.
St. Kilda in 1971 played in front of 90,000+ three times in a row.
In those days when there were fewer finals and more weekends when there was only the one game (and the G could hold a few more), it would have been rather common place.

Thanks. I thought it might have happened in the late 60's -early 70's, but not lately, especially with interstate finals not holding anywhere near that
