PRE Supercoach /or dreamteam Comp with a difference. Ideas welcome.

I've been thinking of the upcoming dreamteam and SC seasons, also of the success of the draft we ran a few months ago.

Due to this I am having thoughts of a great competition we could have within the proper SC or DT comps, 16 of us.

heres my idea.

1. We get 16 dedicated coaches.
2. We conduct another draft - but with only 10 rounds ( number could change on others veiws) - done in reverse order system.
3. We then create a SC/DT comp when the comps open up.
4. All coaches choose their teams.

the catch - Nobody can use any of the players chosen by the others in their teams. Their are heaps of other players that can be used.

So essentially we all have 10 players only we can use. Players not chosen in draft then can be used by all teams -

Thats basically my idea. I think its agood idea, for fun between us. ( I know our teams won't win the comp - but hey its all of us we want to beat)

It will also be interesting on strategy as some may draft players they will think will be cheaper in order to have more salary cap room when pcking the remainder of their team.

Rules for player trades.

1. No player can be traded before until after round ( 3 or 5)
2. After that set round any player can be traded for as coach sees fit, that includes players that were picked in the draft.(in effect after round 3 or 5 the rule about only 1 owner stops.)

I think this is an ok rule, as teams will be very different and should remain that way for a while. thoughts.

I'd really like to do one where no 2 teams can have the same player, but instead of just limiting it to 10, I'd make it the entire league. ie. No 2 teams can have the same player period.

We could somewhat run it from PRE regarding trades and such.

that sound like cool, I just think it may be to hard to work out in regards to salary cap.

Also then it would be hard for everybody to draft 100% to positions, which will coincide with their position on SC.

I think a better option is maybe raise it to 15 - 20 players.

Why not make it that each player gets a team.Just say i get Richmond.I have to select 15 players from Richmond and the rest[10 i think] from the $75G-299G bracket.Now the catch with the 15 players from Richmond.Make it that you can select 1 player outside the current Richmond list who has been associated with Richmond.EG:Brad Ottens.

I just like the draft idea, up to a certain amount of players. I actually like like the whole team is drafted, I just don't think we could tie that many players into a SC team. for a whole 16 teams anyway.

Thoughts.

Perhaps that's just part of the challenge. It's not like it will be a competitive league against others, or that we will serious challenge the leaders individually. As long as it is an even playing field from the start. Go with the draft draft of the whole 30, otherwise you will have every team with Judd, Pavlich, Bartel etc...and that becomes boring (my only crit of Supercoach).

Trading will be hard, as virtually every playing player will be taken (presumably), so you will need to be clear who can claim a new player first, otherwise you might end up with two coaches with same player and one will have to change wasting yet another trade to rectify. First to post on PRE thread can claim player perhaps.......

And from expereince, that some people may drop off needs to be considered.

I will be happy enough to do the 30 round draft.

How will we get around the fact that people can't place the players they pick in their team, due to

1. they can't fit them all in the salary cap.
2. they have not chosen enough of ( eg rucks) but to many midfielders. so can't physically make their team in SC.


What are ways to get around that - I just can't think of any except 1, maybe waiting until the whole thing starts, and then we start a league and make your team as we go on in the draft.

That way people will see what players are where. The problem is if we do it that way -

Thats the only way to do it IMO.

Unless we just have a limited draft.

Very keen to get this going in some sense, as I am definately a bit bored of DT ands SC near the end of the season as everyone ends up with close to the same teams.

We will all have to log on at once and stay the course, as time will be short to get it done.

Yeah, can see the complications, especially from past history Perhaps we just have to allocate a specific draft time for each draft choice, and if you ain't on you ain't on - move on, ie:

Pick 1 - March 15th......9.00am
Pick 2 - March 15th......9.15am
Pick 3 - March 15th......9.30am etc

That's 4 picks per hour, say 12 hours per day, 48 picks per day
480 picks will take 10 days. Depending on how much lead Supercoach gives us (ie two weeks will give us the 10 days) increase the number of draft choices to six per hour (tad under 7days)

Catch up picks can only be done during the middle 5 minutes of any segment - time determined by the PRE post time. That way the coach who is ready and has planned well is rewarded with an exclusive initial 5 minute window to place pick.

Spell it out - people who can't commit can just look on.

but we will need 16 very committed coaches. Especially for the draft.

It could be hard to get a set time for 16 posters though.

I still find it hard to believe we can get this to work as much as I would like to.

I am willing to see though.

but we need to get 16 committed coaches first, and I reckon we need to do it as soon as possible as there is working out to be done, and as this will be fairly complicated, we all need to have a very good understanding of the process.
