Possible Late Picks

What if that Spud is say for example
Karpany,Wilson,Lang,Holman or Sokol still on the Board

You wouldnt be drafting 1st year players just to look at them for 1 year - You would be looking to see what they are capable of after 24-36 months

Petterd isnt going anywhere and pretty sure he can be looked after with either a senior list upgrade during the year
Sokol is probably the only one available at 50 and we'd have 2 chances to take him if we want him.

agree with the Turk. would leave Petterd on the rookie list
The way I understand the system it is actually irrelevant whether he stays as a rookie or not.

We had 38 on the senior list in 2013, lost 5 and gained 1, so we have 34 now. If we want 4 picks in the ND and PSD and we want to elevate Petterd then we just have 39 on the senior list and 5 rookies. I was under the impression that we could do this because newman is a veteran but I have been told we can do it anyway. Either way we can do it if we want to.

If we have made the decision to elevate Petterd, have just 2 live picks and a PSD pick and stay at 38 senior listed players it can only be that we believe that we would prefer to have 6 rookies in our list of 44 players and that it won't hurt our ability to get the players we want.

I've amended my picks
12: Lennon
50: Conlon
60 ish - rover

Do we really need Conlon? I would have thought that Vickery, Hampson, McBean, Elton & Griffiths would be enough coverage for the tall forward role. I would rather be searching for a White replacement and a Tuck replacement, I think it's doable at 50.

No but Garlett might be. He is everything we lack. If we pass again i will be livid.

If Gartlett, as reported, failed to turn up to an interview we had scheduled with him, why the hell would we consider him ?

AFL is as much about mindset and attitude as it is about being a sneaky small forward with no defensive side.

Yep agree he is a def need for us but when u don't turn up to meet teams who are willing to possibly give u a second chance at afl, after u stuffed ur first one, then it's hard to justify picking him. He really seems to be a head case

Petterd has been upgraded to the list.
I can't see petterd, as others also seem to think, in our best 22. Really he shouldn't be in our best 26 odd either, so the upgrade even though it doesn't really affect our drafting is prob not required.
We shouldn't be needing him if we're taking another step up next year, and at 2014 year end out the door he should go

You may be right - you may be wrong.
But at least let the bloke play out the season before turfing him out!
You may be pleasantly surprised.

Plenty said the same about Jacko early last season. By far the majority who posted Rd 1 teams indicated we had no room for him and we'd be going backwards if we played him in 2013. He went on to win our best and fairest. No matter how we see our players, and despite the fact we're entitled to form our own assessments on them, we aren't really qualified to make informed opinions. We mightn't need certain players next year, and hopefully we have many fighting for a spot, but I see no point in all but assuming they'll be worthless. Far better to judge on actual performance than past perception.

I haven't heard of any meeting missed booked with Richmond. Only Port.

Yeah, I think the story that he's missed multiple interviews has become urban legend. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/dayle-garlett-says-hes-matured-and-ready-for-an-afl-listing-most-likely-with-hawthorn-but-will-one-come-at-thursdays-draft/story-fni5f22o-1226761699401

Then Emma Quayle is reporting urban legend. In her Garlett piece she said it was disappointing to hear he was a no show at another interview this year. The whispers on the airwaves suggest he's been a now show for 2 clubs, port and us.
