Port-Mark Williams

The Western Bulldogs wore black armbands as a mark of respect down at York Park yesterday. They weren't our opposition but as a club showed more more class than Port have shown in their entire history.

Well done Bulldogs, up yours Port.

Port who? ;D

Williams also said before the game he was more interested in their training session at the 'G on Saturday than playing us yesterday.

Most Port supporters are just the SA equivalent of Collingwood fans. So deluded and up themselves they think footy wouldn't exist without their club ::).

Don't rate them enough to get offended. We should just store it the memory bank for a future victory over them.

Take Mark Williams as a grain of salt, because that's about all he/his comments are worth.

He lost all credibility when he boasted pre-season about getting Hardwick and Pickett to make the opposition think twice when taking possession - to hit some bodies........

But then he bleats mid season about a team of Bulldog pups punching the snot out of his hard nuts!

No wonder he can't show Jack Dyer respect - Jack Dyer is his total opposite!

A legend you will never be Mark Williams, but a football p!ss ant however, well you succeed admirably.

Your only consolation Mark Williams is that we all know where "Choco's come from! (_(_)

Williams makes Crazy John look sane!! And Handsome as well. ;D

I was watching an interview with Josh Francou on the show "after the game" and when asked if he'd spent some time in the coaches box during his injury recovery he said he did on 3 occasions but never again. And he even admitted that Williams was one crazy dude!
Helter Skelter, Helter Skelter! ;D

This topic has about 3 threads now http://puntroadend.netfirms.com/yabbse/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=2242

i wanted to just ask pplz in here to send an e-mail to port if they wish [email protected]

Myself and shawry have sent these for example. I for one felt necessary to let these pr!cks know exactly how i think they've handled the matter!

first from shawry

SEnt htis to Brian Cunnigham. Dont think I described this the best I could have should I ahve spent more time on it, especially that of whinging about Williams but buggerit I am sick of Port.

Brian,

How are you today? As an Adelaide based Richmond supporter first of all I want to congratulate you on your win yesterday, you guys were far too good.

Now to the main points of my email.
1. Brian having heard you many times on 5AA with KG and Cornesy I do get the impression you are a genuine and great bloke so I have no problem with you personlly. I would like to know why your club guided by you found it totally unnecessary to disrespect the Richmond Football Club and an AFL Legend in general by failing to wear a black arm band in memory of the very sad death of the greatest Richmond player ever and indeed a guy that really personified Richmond and in my mind Jack Dyer was the Richmond Football Club. Todays players cannot possibly come close. How could you disrespect a great stalwart in such a way. To me it is borderline on disgraceful and jsut personifies why your club (incorporatiing Port Magpies here ) is by far and away the most hated in South Australia and possibly Australia. to jsut disregard our club and such a legend is disgraceful. Obviously your club is too self-obseessed to care about the effect a legend of th eclub and the AFL's death may have on Richmond supporters and players.
2. Mark Williams is a disgrace. Howe can you let this guy talk in public and get away wiht saying the things that he says. Having had him briefly as a subsititute teacher at Scotch College during the early 1990's I found him to be despicable and above all others. He has this public persona aswell to all non Power fans. How can you let him be so arrogant and let him get away with saying after the game that it meant nothing and that Richmond are insignificant and he will only worry about them next year. Understandable I guess in a way as he is only focussed on the finals, but still it is disrespecting Richmond who have a great history in the AFL (compared to your 6 years). To be as arrogant as to say that virtually Richmond are insiginificant, mean nothing and to imply the players werent going full tilt to win this game is a disgrace. After Jack Dyer's death to say Richmond are insig nificant is a gisgrace. I look forward to the near future when your window of opportunity is gone and you cannot resign all your players when you are losing again and Mark Williams is back to his sooky best.

Anyway had to get this out of system, heres hoping that you respond to the question about the armband and why it was not worn except for one player. Richmond may not mean much to you, nor the tradition of the AFl considering you are the newbies to the competition, but the disrespect you have shown has even lowered further the opinion I have of your club and I look forward to the inevitability of you choking again in the finals so that your club and many of your feral fans get what they deserve. ANother broken heart like Richmond supporters have suffered for the last 20 years.

and second from me

Dear Brian,
I am writing to you in relation of the events surrounding the Richmond v Port match yesterday afternoon. Firstly I was disappointed to see your club not wearing armbands (bar 1 player for whatever reason) for the passing of our club great Jack Dyer. I think it was disrespectful of your club and players to not acknowledge a player who gave so much to the game that you have recently been part of regardless, of the player in questions team or state allegiance. When your coaches father died a lot of credit was given to his achievements in S.A. footy by way of the media of all forms here in Victoria thus it appeared your coach as spokesman really couldn’t give a toss about apart from it spurring our side on in this particular match to victory seemed to be his only concern.

Secondly in relation to the club song not being sung that was whoever is in charge their prerogative but, for your coach’s statement that the win “was not anything special” was a complete slap in the face to myself and other members of the Richmond football club including the RFC and J. Dyers family who the match im sure would have been an emotional day/weekend. We supporters of the tigers are in no way in denile to our clubs current and past predicament of the past two decades but, make no mistake we extremely proud of our club’s history or record in the AFL/VFL and are passionate and proud of the jumper and the players who wear that jumper and did not deserve such a flagrant display of arrogance or lack of tact that your club and coach showed to the RFC as well as your own supporters re the song. Rivalry is always healthy in sport and enjoyed by all yet, I did not view any events that I have highlighted as even close to resembling that but that of thoughtlessness and the VIC/S.A (if that’s what the attempt?) was not thought through or carelessly handled. Whenever your club is dealt a short straw or a sour grape we are constantly bombarded by press snippets of Mark Williams demanding respect, fair play (sniping incident W bulldogs),E. Mcguire and his jumper or collingwood relinquish the jumper, draft concessions, salary cap etc. his whining and sooking will go unheeded on my front I can assure you. I wonder what would of happened had Danny Frawley shown the same to him regarding his father’s passing im sure it would be front page news over there and much baying for his blood.

All I ask in future is the same respect that our club has shown yours be returned and noted. Disrepecting our past champions and other clubs champions will not earn you any respect or support for your clubs cause here in Victoria. Thank you if you actually read this letter Brent Fox

Very well put Shawry and Fox. It will be interesting to see if anyone replies and what they have to say for themselves. It was a bloody disgrace. They tainted a very important day for the Richmond Football club. I am now really looking forward to the finals to watch this pathetic excuse for a club go down in flames. After what happened, Port are my most hated club by a long shot.

I sent one to Port and one to the Bulldogs (obviously a completely different tone.

To who it may concern,

The lack of respect shown by your football club in choosing not to wear black armbands on Sunday says plenty about the entire Port Adelaide F.C. You have shown that you have no respect for the passing of one of football's greatest names. You have shown that you have no respect for the game of football. You have shown that you have no respect for the history of Australian rules. You have shown that you have no respect.

If it were not for men like Jack Dyer the game of football would not be where it is today. His contribution to football extends far past his involvement as a player and coach of the Richmond Football Club. Your failure to recognise this speaks volumes about the quality of people at Port.

The Port Adelaide Football Club have lost the respect of every geniune football follower, not just those who bleed black and yellow. Perhaps if your coach, players and management understood how Jack Dyer played the game and conducted himself in life, and, applied the same ethos you would be closer to achieving not only success but earning some respect yourselves.

first off -
http://forum.thepowerfromport.com/forums/viewthread.php?tid=1997 - ppl go have some fun ;)

fantastic post KL :)

I was absoultley disgusted at the disrespect shown by not only the PAFC but also the PA fans.

Mark Willams would have to be the biggest prick going around. Danny may be a dud coach but at least he is not a disrespectful *smile*. It says a lot of port not wearing black armbands in respect of a legend who did a lot for the game at vfl/afl level. Im surprised there was no uproar about it. and as KL said can you imagine the controversy if we didnt pay the respects to Fos Williams? I could not care less if they sang the song or not (its a crap song anyway) but for "choco" to belittle the score was just idiodic.

2ndly PA supporters would have to be the biggest wankers going around. Some one said the were 2nd worst only to collingwood. but i can honestly say the pies supporters arnt that bad. Sure they may be a bunch of ferals with no teeth, but they have respect for the game, the players, the past legends. And to top it off the pies supporters KNOW what they are talking about when it comes to footy.

PA supporters on the other hand have no respect for any of the things i just mentioned and i would be very surprised if they could tell you what the red thing getting kicked around on the ground is ;)

The abuse i got from the cheersquad while walking down the stairs on level 3 was shocking, so of course i stopped at the railing and had a go at them all. the best they could come up with is "where is richmond on the ladder" and "nice to see you in a final this yr" as well as calling me a *smile* reapetedly. Thanks to the 2 guys that helped me get in to them ;)

Lastly the "richo is a wanker" chant is getting a bit old especially when the bloke doesnt have the ball. some one tell them to get something new...

Richmond have lost a lot of respect in the football world, but not as much as PA imo. I have lost respect for mark Willams not only as a coach, but as a person.

Ill be laughing the loudest when PA crash and burn in the finals.
Nice emails guys, im working on one now.

Sorry this is so long.... :-\

Great Posts SHAWRY, Fox and KFC, but I have penned a little response that I will save until they inevitably choke in the finals.

Then I will send a little spear that will cut deep to the bone, because I know that it will cut that pea heart WILLIAMS to the cores as he screams blue murder.

He has just raced to the top of the most hated list with a bullet.

Fos Williams is Mark Williams' father and is a complete legend of the SANFL. Brought Port Adelaide Magpies to be a powerhouse with his coaching and playing (especially coaching) and is indeed a legend and deservedly so.

LOL, You're an evil man gus... I like it!

And still people doubt why Guerra wants out and would play better footy elsewhere.... fancy having to play under that arrogant pathetic excuse for a man. A total wanker... never changes its spots.....

May I ask what is the importance if a team sings their club song or not after a win..........

There was no disrespect to Captain Blood in anyway by Port not wanting to sing their song......

If it wasnt for the Media & Cameras going into the rooms after the game we would never know if they sang the song or not......

So whats the big deal......

Yes they could have wore black arm bands out of respect of Jack, but then again last year when Port lost their Club & State legend of the game Fos Williams their opposition could have shown the same respect but they didnt........

Come to think of it Richmond was their opposition on that day.......

Sorry Shawry - I was speaking tongue-in-cheek. What I meant was, who was Fos Williams compared to the mighty Jack Dyer. I did know he was Chocca's father and vaguely that he might have had some impact on the SANFL. But he was no Captain Blood. I also heard that Danny Frawley did pay his respects to Fos Williams. Richmond tends to be a respectful club eg. guard of honor for Stephen Silvagni's last game, tribute to Jason McCartney.

Put it this way Julz. Fos Wiliams is to Port what Dyer is to Richmond. In different competitions but of equal significance to their supporters. Is unfair to compare one to the other. They are both legends in their own right in my opinion and I hate Port as much as the next bloke. Especially Port Magpies.

Philby: Crap Iam sure it was West Coast oyu played after Fos died and I am sure that they wore blackarm bands. I could be wrong but am confident about this.

Agree about hte song though, that is a petty point that is more to do wiht Ports fans hearing it rather than anything else in my opinion.

Shawry, you are 100% correct and here's the proof.

http://www.realfooty.theage.com.au/news/2001/09/02/FFXZO8ZP3RC.html

Philby you are a goose. Get your facts straight before you blurt untruths.

Philby you obviously have no idea about much let alone football or history. Fos Williams passed away on Saturday 1st September 2001. The Power played West Coast the following day. Both teams wore black armbands.
You ignorance is only matched by your stupidity.
