Pick 53: Jack Graham

Form line of Larke medal winners who are mids, Harley Bennell, Stephen Conilgo, Lachie Whitfield , Don Sheed, Christian Petrecca.

At 53, you dive in. Perfect fit for everything the Bulldogs rate in a footballer.
And helps fill a need.

Still no cert to play 100 games but the pick & logic behind it make perfect sense.

Anyone know what his combine results were like? What's his endurance, 3km trial etc results?
I'm OK with him not being quick, but is his 20m time acceptable or is he a slug?

Jack get a mention as being as a possible immediate impact, the others went at pick 1,2,4,8,9,18, Jack @ 53 & Luke Ryan @ 66

Wish him all the best.
Not convinced after watching his highlights.
Looks a slow and questionable skill set.
Well developed which held him in good stead in junior leagues.
Can't see a lot of upside.
Will be delighted if he proves me wrong.
I always love the "this player is crap and a dud" but I hope I am proven wrong posts. ::)

Can't see any mention of " crap" n "dud" in me post.
Can see slow and questionable skill set however.
Yet another example of your vivid imagination style posting over the years.
Still reckon Dimma can coach?

General, I don't think Graham made an appearance at the Combine (well, not for the physical tests anyway) due to a quad injury.

In Frank's draft wrap video interview on the club website he said Graham's running is elite.

On watching Graham at state level I initially thought his kicking was abnormally bad (despite the contested nature of the beast), and then I pored through the stats. I was shocked to find that his KE holds up despite looking like a reincarnation of Andy Goodwin. This could well be another Dunkley special, unfashionable but effective. He also hates to handball, the antithesis of retreads such as Matt Thomas & Sam Lonergan. This is a value pick and Larke medalists rarely come this cheap. With a midfield like ours this is just what the doctor ordered.

He slipped, Bully. (Hahahaha - Bolton and Garthwaite too.) You never know your luck, do ya? We problee done good with the poor cards we had.

I am absolutely rapt with getting Graham to Punt Rd!

A Larke Medalist at 53... Maybe, just maybe our fortunes are begging to turn for the better; did someone finally give the ol' Tiger Skin a good steam clean?

Looks a lot like Scott Thompson to me (who is 184cm and 83kg), a bulldozer and just what we need.

yeah, he looks more scott thompson than scott thompson.

good pick I reckon. kind of reverse X factor. Not in a Vlastuin way, but a Dayne Swan way. A-factor?

Hates to handball? His highlights reel show him handball 45 times and kick it 5 times...
Does he look overweight/ chunky to anyone else? Looks like he'll need some slimming down and muscle definition.
But does get it a lot. I'm not convinced....

Can't remember the last time I've been able to look back on a draft and honestly say we have nailed it, or at least picked up the value bet. Generally it's all been about reaching and left field selections. Graham could well turn out to be one of the best pick 53's in history, that's not to say he'll win a Brownlow, just more a comment on playing the odds and picking the right player type with each selection. I'm onboard with the Clarke era, off to a flyer.

A lot of phantom drafts and power rankings had him going in early 20's.

Think that was more to do with some late interviews from Brisbane as opposed to his ranking. In any case, pick 56 is a steal and probably makes the Caddy deal all the more important as it would be a toss off the coin as to whether he would have lasted another six picks.

SA avg - 13 kicks, 11 handballs (68% efficiency)
North Adelaide u/18 - 17 kicks, 7 handballs (65% efficiency)
North Adelaide reserves - 9 kicks, 7 handballs (68% efficiency)

Interesting that he wore 31 in the SA team. He plays just like Ronald Dale Barrassi.

Not a whole lot of skill but lots of intent, will, strength, physicality and belief.
