Pick 12 discussion.

West Coast will take Sheed. They think he is the 2nd coming of Luke Hodge and they might well be right.

As others have said this looks like one of the most open drafts in years. No one is really sure what will happen.

What I am sure of is that we will be amazed to see our pick still available at 12. We'll feel he is is a top 5 candidate, if not top 3.

My thoughts :

With the injury concerns over Scharenberg (foot) and McCarthy (broken leg) I reckon the Lions go someone else at 7.

They of all teams can't afford the risk IMO.

Will be a big call but I wouldn't be surprised if they go Sheed.

If this happens, good chance of Scharenberg slipping to Collingwood at 10.

FWIW, if this happens, if Sheed has been picked up beforehand, West Coast will go Freeman IMO.

Salem to Dee's at 9 which will leave us to pick out of Lennon/Taylor/Jones at 12.

How I think the top 12 will be picked :

1 Boyd GWS
2 Kelly GW
3 Billings StK
4 Bontempelli WB
5 Koladjashnij GC
6 Aish COL
7 Sheed BL
8 McDonald NM
9 Salem MEL
10 Scharenberg COL
11 Freeman WC
12 Lennon/Taylor/Jones RIC

Okay, I'm back on the Acres bandwagon.

1 Boyd
2 Kelly
3 Billings
4 Bontempelli
5 KK
6 Scharenberg
7 Sheed
8 McDonald
9 Salem
10 Aish
11 Lennon
12 Acres

One thing you wouldnt want to be is pick 14 then all the goodies are gone ! One thing is nearly certain and that is a good prospect will fall to 12 and people will be saying "RFC are lucky to have him at 12"

Yes and no I reckon geds. Yes, I reckon tiges get a beauty at 12, but I reckon theres some gems into the late 20's. Blokes like impey, apeness, the hyphenated black fella whose name escapes me, acres maybe, jones maybe, darcy lang. I'd love pick 28, but also reckon the Velvet Hammer was worf it.

That's valid to the extent that Frank doesn't choose a surprise selection (e.g. Jones etc).

I really miss the days when we used to say all the good players will be gone by pick 12. We should have tanked to get pick 11 or higher.

yeah, theres alotta love in the room these days.

Im surprised noone has spied Darcy Lang, or some other bolter at Tullamarine getting on a flight to Coolongatta yet. Its all very calm around here.

I don't reckon BL will take McCarthy and I would be very nervous if I was a doggies supporter looking at Bontempelli he could be the 2013 version of Williams - bust, I reckon they will go Aish. Are GC serious in thinking of KK at their pick they could do much better. Pick 12 could actually be one pick too late unfortunately.

:thumbsup reckon this is pretty close and hope it happens. If not Acres, Dunstan or Jones. I prefer Dunstan for his handball ability from clearances, something we lack a specialist in. Another leader, another rock.

Downside as it stands, is Collingwood absolutely wiping the floor with this draft. Add Taylor Adams with Grundy and Co. from last year, and that is one very concise and expedient refurbishing of their list without losing traction.

Reckon this is probably close. Acres isn't going to happen though. If Lennon/Salem aren't available it's going to be Jones.

Don't know about that. Looking at Twomey's phantom draft for example, he has potentially Lewis Taylor, Zak Jones, Blake Acres, Billy Hartung all at selection 14 or higher. There's a remarkably even depth of players this year.

I agree unfortunately. I'd be very surprised if we took Acres, ecstatic though. In reality it's probably a toss up between Jones and Freeman. The former I'd be happy with, the latter I'd question.

If Melbourne take Freeman though, which is a slim chance, we might have a shot at Salem.

Is the draft being televised on free to air tv or Foxtel??

If so, after the channel and time.

It's on Fox Footy starting at 7pm. My wife is out on a girls night, what a shame!
