Our 2023 Grand Final/ retirement at the G v norf changes

Mini Dimma can’t change the 2023 game plan as that’ll confuse the players
Cant wait if hes appointed as coach and continues with this *smile* :poop: in 2024

i think it would great for Cotch to play with his old mates Jack and Dusty and as many of the kids we can get in there ..
He is playing with ALL his old mates… every Premiership player (barring Lynch) on our list has been selected… all 17 of them… hardly surprising… which hasn’t left room for many kids.

There would have been only 5 spots debated at match committee this week… they went with Taranto, Hopper, Ross, Young and Dow.

Can’t imagine telling any of the 16 that they were being left out.

Whilst this will be the last time we see our premiership captain…. It will also be the last time we see this many premiership players from this amazing era take the field together.

Is it the right or wrong thing to do with our season done and dusted? Is there still room in footy for sentimental final games?

Reckon you could mount an argument either way but I’ll definitely be going to pay my respects.

Hoping they dig deep and provide a memorable send off… and we see a few more kids in final game.

Good to see Dow keep his spot. Hopefully builds on a promising game last week even with Hopper & Cotchin returning from injury.
Hope he gets plenty of opportunity inside.

This club ain’t going anywhere, alas. Gallery of former champs has turned it into a cult of personality. Like Mini but this is not a convincing job interview.

On tactics, selection and performance, it would seem we are just spinning wheels.

How many here have a sinking feeling we’ll lose this game?

The club has lost any vestige of forward momentum it had left. And no draft picks of note either.

Not drowning, waving

Yes 17 of them, and another 2 high cost recruits, sums up how we've completely stuffed up our youth progress over the last couple of years.

I understand the sentimental thing but it's not just about sentiment. There are a few in that 17 that should have been dropped throughout the season.

Let's hope next year we aren't still playing with 15 of them the whole season.

More I think about it the more I think *smile* this

A fair-dinkum AFL club should either be competing for the premiership cup on offer in-season or going all out to prepare for the next one.

We are doing neither.

Club has dropped the ball. Even in saying goodbye to Cotch and Jack, we should be surrounding them with the future.

Will be a real interesting game, we are in terrible form coming up against our bogey team the kangas and its a milestone match where we don't always perform well in.

If Chimp and Jack requested one last game with all their premiership teammates, that's what they get. It's one game, it won't cruel anyone's development.

If they requested to play brook in the ruck and poppy at FF for this game,

Id happily and proudly go along and cheer and cry.

Bravo cotchy and jack.

I cant be there saturday, but ive been there.

Benny talks of balmeys indestructible calm,

Well Cotchy and Jack gave me a life-long supply of impenetrable joy

It's quite interesting to see the RFC name every Premiership player in the team against North.

It speaks so highly of the culture that now exists in this once (1980's - 2016) shambles of a club.

As someone who has considerable understanding of workplace culture, employment challenges and team values - let me say that the message this sends to each and every one of those Premiership players (and the kids that aspire to be Premiership players) is that they are, were and will always be a TIGER!

Every employer understands that renumeration only goes so far. You need to inspire and generate a culture where people WANT to come to work, want to be part of the 'team'. Loyalty is invaluable - and it goes both ways!!!

Well done RFC. The season is over and some younger players will miss this game - but what they lose in onfield experience is compensated for by instilling a TEAM Culture with an eye to the future = Richmond First.

Their time will come.

We celebrate Riewoldt and Cotchin this week, absolutely.

But to go so far as to mould this team in the image of past glories?

Too far, doesn’t sit well for the act itself and for where we are at collectively as a club at the moment.

Our last flag was three years ago. Three years in which this fan is filthy we didn’t win more.

It’s all about the present and the future for me.

Club is navel-gazing in team selection and that is a road to nowhere.

If these war horses want to bond then let them swap stories at the corner hotel when the season is over.

I think this is the way to view this round of selection. It is literally a thank you for your service and you get to play with your flag buddies. I'm sure it's been communicated that way internally as those dropped didn't deserve it on the face of things. For one farewell game where finals are shot this is probably the right decision if communicated clearly.

Absolutely.

This week we play a low team in the second last round of a season where we won't be playing finals.

This week we put in the premiership heroes to farewell 2 greats of the club.

Then, we start the reset.

New coach, premiership heroes no longer playing, likely some new faces as assistant coaches, possibly a shake up of the match committee and footy department, everything is on the table. We throw in a few youngsters for the difficult last game if the year and just tell them to play to their strengths.

The future starts on Monday, on Saturday we celebrate a golden era most clubs can only dream of.

There's a fair chance a few of the premiership heroes playing tomorrow, won't be first 22 regulars next year.

It's potentially an off broadway farewell/thanks for the memories, to few who'll still be at the club, but in reduced capacity, or wind up elsewhere after trade week.

What?? The 2 players we want to see are out. Strange choices, then again I couldn't care less.....just get this season over and done with.
yeah TF..
I would've thought getting / keeping young guys in with an eye to the future for the Cotch Jack farewell might've been
a good thing.
But what do I know?
